Lucky Buddha is my least favorite of the three most widely available Chinese beers (Tsingtao being my favorite and Yanjing being kind of meh).

It’s actually interesting. They’ve gone to great lengths to downplay China on the packaging. The only place it appears is on the bottom, where it says produced in Zhejiang. I think it must be produced for export, because I can’t find any mention of it being sold in China, and I don’t think I ever saw it there.

Tsingtao is just Chinese Heineken. Heineken opened up a brewery in China, got it running, and then the Chinese govt took it from Heineken.

That’s not entirely true. It was a British company with heavy German investment. It was nationalized after the war.

But Tsingtao tastes better than Heineken.

I agree it’s probably for export. From my experience, most canned beer in China still has crown corks, not stay tabs.

Tsingtao is great, but only from a can. It’s amazing how much of a difference there is between can and bottle. I don’t understand why beer companies refuse to acknowledge the fact that green bottle beer is garbage.

We got some of that a few months ago in bottles just for the bottles. It was worse than expected, we ended up dumping half of them down the drain. Bottles look cool though.

I already have a hard enough time finding Tsingtao so I am amazed you found that someplace.

Tsingtao is pretty much everywhere in New Jersey. If you have a Wegmans grocery store around you, they probably carry it.

Nah, pa liquor laws are lagging a bit. They just changed the law regarding grocery stores.

My local distributor stocks it for Chinese restaurants, you legit have to ask for it because they have the boxes hidden behind a shelf.
