This isn’t necessarily a snarky question, just I don’t think I’ve ever heard anybody I know who cares what kind of tires they have say they like Firestones.

I think I’ve only ever bought two Firestone tires, and I only did it because I wanted to match the rears on a Prelude I had just bought. I should have just bought four of something else, because they were overpriced and not very good.

Personally, I like BFGoodrich. I’ve had good luck with them in car and truck applications, the prices are reasonable, and they always seem to be generous with the width. But really, I haven’t bought any tires besides those Firestones that I really regretted.

I actually intentionally went with Firestone whitewalls on my Town Car, they seemed period appropriate.

Since they were bought by Bridgestone they haven’t really been a performance brand, have they?

My S2000 came with Firehawk Wide Oval AS all-season tires. If I recall correctly, JGrabowMSt also had them at one point. You can’t judge a brand based off of one tire on one car, but I’ll say that they were a terrible tire for an S2000. That chassis is set up for a tire that has generous lateral grip, and the Firehawks did not, especially in the rain. And I only got about 10k miles out of the rears, so it’s not like they were super long-wearing or anything to make up for their lousiness.

Their winter tires are pretty nice, good traction in the snow.

Had Firestone on my RX-7, in the rear only, following a puncture on the freeway... Had to take whatever would fit to not get stuck. They were BAD. No grip whatsoever, made the car super sketchy for anything over normal speeds...

The only Firestones I’ve ever owned were OEM on a 2001 Civic - only lasted about 40,000, kinda loud, didn’t handle that well. My grandfather would never buy them because of their labor issues...

I don’t know much about them except for the drama with the Ford Explorer in the ‘90s.

I will say I’ve had bad luck with one model of tire by a manufacturer whilst having great luck with another. The Goodyear Eagle RS-As on my old Mazda3 were pathetic but the different model Goodyears we put on my wife’s CX-5 are awesome.

I slapped some Firehawk Indy 500s (non wide oval) and for the price, they are as good or better than my BFGoodrich Comp G-2s. I think they’re quieter on the freeway and they seem a bit more grippy at the limit but still have some leeway before giving out when you push hard. But then again I’m in a Fiesta ST so YMMV for a RWD car or somethign with more power.

But yes, I am a fan of certain firestone and bridgestone tires.

I considered some Firestone wide oval “gobbledegook” named tires when I put on Bridgestone Potenza S04 Pole Positions. But I think I’ve only seen Firestones on bro truck and lifted Jeep’s.

Btw I have never been on a tire with so much grip in the wet like the so4's

Id like to go down another 1/2" - 1" but as long as it’s my DD I can’t.

I have four Firestone F560 tires on the SAAB, the catch is they’re not actually made by Firestone. Coker bought the molds from them, and as I understand it they’re actually made in some factory in Europe.

The only other option in that size (that isn’t total shit, or a super high priced specialty tire) is Vredstein, but I’ve never had a set so I don’t know how they compare.

My S10 had Firestone Precision Tourings and my Silverado I just bought has Firestone Destination A/Ts on it. I’m more than impressed with both.

The Precision Tourings (which are actually a car tire despite being on an S10) we’re insanely quiet, handled extremely well in the dry and wet, and took me through an ice storm without issues despite being all-season tires. I put 15,000 miles on the truck before trading it in and the tires didn’t look any more worn than when I bought it.

The Destination A/Ts have the typical low-speed bumpiness that all A/Ts have, but the normal A/T highway grumble is almost undetectable. They ride pretty well and handle well in the wet. No idea about snow/ice yet but I imagine they’ll be as good as the Precision Tourings. I will definitely be putting another set on once these need replacement.

I bought a set of four last November, but only because I was out of money and ice storms were coming. They’re used and probably have at least half of their tread life left. They’re OK, I guess. Not quite as sticky as the stock Bridgestone’s, but should last longer. $180 for four, installed, so not bad.

No, I think you’re right right, they’ve got Bridgestone positioned hire up the ladder in that respect.

Can confirm. Blew through two sets of RS-As on my old ‘95 Monte Carlo. The outside edges burned up on the first set within 10k. That was with rotating the tires and making sure the pressures were set to factory specs regularly. After the second set was on, (and double checking the alignment was good, it was) I got 12k before the same happened again. Never went back to Goodyear after that. Firestone Winterforce tires are excellent in snow. Had them on my old 4WD Civic and never got stuck. I ran some Yokohama tires on my old 2001 GTP, and hated them. No grip, noisey, and never kept balance. I’ve got Toyos on my GTO right now. Not bad, but the grip is crap if someone so much as puts a drop of sweat on the road.
