I quite liked the Mercedes W168 and W169.
The rear of the W168 looked more Mercedes and was a nice departure for Mercedes from saloons, coupes and estates.
On Autotrader you can pick up a great W169 towards the end of the production cycle (2006) for less than £1,000 for a one with 110,000miles to £4,000 for a 2006 with 31,000 miles.
For my money I’d take the 2007, A170 Classic SE 3door with 66,000 miles for £2,500.
