So apparently in 1979 AMC in a last-ditch effort “styled” the Gremlin, and Called it the AMC Spirit. I found out about it because I found on on CL today, the seller is also offering a 66 Marlin.

Here’s some pics of the glorious thing. You can see they grafted on the Eagle’s nose. This car did debut the same year.

This model was Called the “sedan” which I can only assume was done as a joke. Especially since the Gremlin was just a chopped up Hornet, which was available as an actual sedan. The rear end is pretty wild tho. I like it.

That’s a Spirit Kammback. The regular Spirit was a more conventional hatchback. They also made an Eagle Kammback. I would estimate they sold like four or five of them.

Oh I have seen the Spirit before, just not the sedan version. I’d only seen the liftback, and only the SX4.

I just bought a new Edelbrock head for my 88' Eagle Wagon.

I really like the Pacer. The Spirit... I don’t dislike it, but wouldn’t be my top AMC choice. Nice to see one in decent shape still kicking around though.
