Not this car but looks just like this, its an 82. Went to the mechanic today to pick up my e30. There was a tow truck driver standing there while I am talking to the shop’s owner. He asked, “it is that car right there” and points. I made some joke about how they couldn’t fix it, owner says it was left 3 years ago and he is sending it for scrap. Asked what he wanted, got it for $400. Starts and drives. Body is in great shape, so is interior. It needs a tiny bit of work from what I can see, and I am sure stuff from sitting 3 years. Going to pick it up Monday

“help i’m in over my head” might be next haha. I got my e30 - 91 black coupe, 325i 5sp, basically the most desirable for bmw guys* for $1200. I am about 5k in now and its finally running and driving well, 2 years later. Learned a lot on that car. Timing belt, fixing major stalling/idle issues, new CV axles, stuff like that. These seem pretty damn simple though, I’ve done work on my e39 so this should be like repairing a lawnmower right? ...right?
*I want color, this is the first colored car I have ever had and am pumped

I thought W123s were supposed to be very rugged and not that hard to work on, as evidenced by the fact they are so common in Africa?
