I just watched the entire video. I also liked it. If there’s something I’d like to tell you is that this perfectly encompasses my feelings towards automotive journalism nowadays. Being an automotive journalist is always one of those dreams I’ve had become more prevalent as the years pass. I’ve been reading car magazines since I was 7 years old. My father always had a subscription to Road & Track when I was a kid. Although I loved cars before that, the magazines opened a whole new world to me. Without it, I doubt my passion for cars would be so strong. I remember the first thing I ever read in a car magazine to this day. It was an ad for the E90 3-Series when it came out. I’ve wanted a 325i since then. As time passed, I fell deeper in love with automotive journalism. As a kid, I would review cars as I played Gran Turismo 4, Need For Speed (insert 2005-2007 title here), and Forza 3. My friend introduced me to Top Gear in 2006 when we were in third grade. It was love at first sight (watch?). Since then, I started writing my own reviews on Microsoft Word. Even though my dream then was to become a designer for BMW, I still held automotive journalism as a hobby and a potential second job. As time passed, I bought subscriptions to more car magazines. I added Motor Trend, Car & Driver, Automobile, and Top Gear at the height of my passion. Around 2013-ish, I saw a peak and subsequent decline for automotive journalism. As I read some reviews, I noticed journalists wax lyrical about certain new cars whose ads were prevalent in said issue of the magazine. You could begin to tell the strong bias towards said car presumably from being paid to talk highly of them. One instance is the Cadillac ATS. It’s not a terrible car, but I got annoyed with every magazine saying it finally surpassed the 3-Series. Every single magazine would basically say the same thing about it. If we look back at it, the F30 3-Series is a stellar car in every aspect. I love it so much that I have tons of pictures of them all over my room. My Instagram account has F30 in the name. I’ve driven oodles of them. Everything from a 2014 316i with the 6 speed manual to a 335i M Sport with the 8 speed sport automatic. The test of time has shown us that the 3-Series still reigns supreme over the ATS. Since then, the ATS hasn’t aged nicely at all. It most certainly didn’t live up to the hype. I’ve driven one. It wasn’t very nice. Since then, I’ve slowly but surely unsubscribed from all of the car magazines. All of them. I simply don’t enjoy them as much as I used to. If there’s anything that pisses me off as you said in your video, it’s the lack of passion for cars among everyone, specifically people my age. I have yet to meet another person my age in my lifetime as enthusiastic and passionate about cars as myself. Sure, some people like cars, but they don’t really care about anything that isn’t their car. They simply like them. They’re cool. That’s about it. My friends all give me shit for stopping to take a picture of a 2006 BMW 325i in Arctic Metallic because “Bro, you just look fucking stupid stopping to take a picture of a crappy BMW. It’s just a car.” If that was bad, you should’ve seen the shit I got two months ago for taking a picture of a Spirited Green Metallic Mazda 2. “Bro, it’s a fucking piece of shit little Mazda. I fucking swear to God it’s embarassing to go out to have you take pictures of cars all the time. I’d understand if you took a picture of a Lambo or something, but come on. A fucking Mazda hatchback.” was one of my (now ex) friend’s responses. ” It’s very hard to fit in when your one true passion in life is looked down upon by everyone. I wish I could find people that like cars as I do. I just haven’t found them. I’m sure my time will come, but I have no choice but to wait in the meantime.

Let’s make people like cars again then! Send me an email through the YouTube page and we’ll get you plugged in. Your passion is evident, and I think people like you and I are what the industry needs to reignite the passion in people!

I’ll be honest, I have no idea how to do send an email through YouTube. I hope you don’t mind, but I sent you a friend request on Facebook from the original video you posted. Sorry about that. I literally have no clue how to do that.
