Kinja'd!!!

Unfortunately, they won’t be mounted today because three out of the four had bad dents in them that would’ve needed to be banged out.

How bad?

Kinja'd!!!

Terribad -_-

I’ve no idea where along the line this happened, if they were shipped like this or UPS fudged up.

Only one of them would’ve been worth putting on. I’m now going through the process of returning them and hopefully getting a new set. Bummer, and these were the only wheels in my budget that I liked.

It’s in the 60s and up now, the winter tires are gonna have to stay on who knows how much longer.

Probably happened in transit, I see no protection in that box. UPS/FedEx don’t care about your shit. They just toss boxes around.

Well this certainly put a dent in my mood today (unfortunate pun). I was looking forwards to this all week, but I’m okay.

I removed the “protection” to take that picture. There was soft sheets of foam and cardboard to protect the faces of the wheels; nothing for the sides. This is how they were boxed from where I ordered them from I reckon.

We’ll see....I emailed them pictures of the most damaged wheel and the boxes.

like i understand its hard to protect them once they leave the warehouse but is it that hard to use a bigger box so you can protect the wheels a bit more

Damn that sucks and those are nice too. Makes my back ordered lug nuts seem trivial. My wheels from CJ pony parts didn’t come packaged to well either but they had tires on them. I think I’m gonna go check em again after seeing that. Hang in there nothing worth while is easy.

Btw I hope you didn’t sell the Porsche?

not to rain on your already damp parade but this is likely to continue to be a problem because cheap wheels are cheaply made and not very strong.

I’d pour a bag of popcorn or seat it in a styrofoam case before putting it in a box at minimum. I’ll be most disappointed if this doesn’t work out.

I ordered mine from LMR. This kinda feels as bad as buying something sight-unseen from Craigslist. First time I’ve ever bought wheels online too. When my dad surprised me with a set of winter wheels/tires for my ST, the tires were already on the wheels, those would’ve obviously cushioned them from any damage. I’m more concerned for my winter tires and bank account than myself right now. I don’t want to buy another set of winter tires this year and it’s warm outside.

I’m still planning on selling it. Just having as much spare change as that car is worth would be a relief blanket to me, and I never have time to work on it as is, because life is nothing but compromises.

I thought flow-formed wheels would’ve been fine, but I guess not. Oh well, let the rain continue. I’ll survive.

That’s a shipping issue. I have cast wheels and they arrived just fine via UPS, but they were very well packaged.

It doesnt even look like they tried to protect them, where is the foam and packaging material. Throwing a hunk of a aluminum in a box is a bad idea.

Yeah that blows on the wheels. I’ve bought wheels twice online once bare and my current set. Both times no problems. Those things had to really get pounded. Their not even mine and I’m kinda pissed.

If I can convince my wife I might be interested in that 944. No rush though.

actual forging on like Konigs sure, but lately it has been very popular to apply that term to cheap cast wheels

I was not aware of that. I guess that’s big business, cheapening out, supply and demand, and misinformation going par for the course. It happens unfortunately. But this is being resolved somewhat for the most part so things will be better I hope.

I too thought flow-formed wheels stood up to serious abuse.

I bought from LMR too, but I ordered with tires already mounted and I’m in Texas so I got them the next day. UPS didn’t have them long enough to screw them up.
