With the Blackhawks summary dismissal from the NHL playoffs last night, I have changed my avatar back to Lego Schumi. Full credit to Nashville. They outplayed the Hawks from the first drop of the puck in Game 1, Rinne was amazing (and, it must be said, so was Crawford, by far the best Blackhawk every night), and the Predators had the middle of the ice so blocked up that it looked like there were 7 or 8 of them out there on every shift. It will be very interesting to see what the Blackhawks roster looks like next year....

Whoa, Nashville has an NHL team? And they’re good? I live only a couple hours south of there, but had no idea. They’re probably awesome because they skate in 2" of water most of the year.

Get your flame suit out. There are some pretty rabid Predators fans around here. And, just because I’m bitter, I’ll add this (directed at them, not you): Stop calling them “the Preds.” That’s just stupid. There is one team that is allowed to use that sort of nickname, and that is the Canadiens. There are no Avs, no Sens, no Preds, no Canes, no Bolts (dafuq?), or whatever other stupid truncation you want to use for your stupid team. And before you get all high and mighty and say, “Yeah, well, well, you call the Blackhawks the Hawks.” Yes, I do, because “hawks” is an actual word, and their name used to be Black Hawks before they made it one word. So go suck a frozen puck.

Just to prove I’m not completely ignorant about hockey, I agree with the Habs comment. :D Yes, back to planes and cars. And I’ll keep my opinion that hockey should be confined only to geographical areas where ice would naturally occur to myself.

Fun fact (that may actually be a complete lie), my dad was asked to try out for the Blackhawks after he graduated high school in 1970. When I asked him why he didn’t, he said, “Those guys didn’t make any money back then, and none of them had any freakin’ teeth either.” (he did not say freakin’ actually, but I’m typing this on a school computer, so you can figure out what he really said)

Aside from F1, everything on your list is so unimportant to me that they didn’t even cross my mind when I tried to think of sports I ignore. I used to watch F1 more, but I got out of the habit a few years ago. Occasionally I use the NBC Sports app to watch a replay of a race but that’s about it.
I hate college sports because it takes too much mental energy to keep track of all the teams, but watching an occasional college football game is mildly enjoyable if only because of the relative lack of commercials and stoppages compared to the NFL. Also the overly serious attitude people talk about the NFL with, like, “THESE ARE HONORABLE GRIDIRON WARRIORS, WE MUST NOT HAVE DISTRACTIONS” when everything from crashing a car while reaching for a slice of pizza, to putting a Make America Great Again hat in your locker, to punching your wife in the face counts as a “distraction.”
College basketball is garbage because of the same problem with too many teams and because good lord kids, learn to shoot the ball! I’d rather watch a random mid-season NBA game where the starters are loafing their way through the 3rd quarter than most college basketball games.

I prefer college sports to pro, generally. Sure, the skill level isn’t there yet, but there’s more enthusiasm, and at least on the surface they are playing for a school and not an owner or a league (no need to go into the cartel that is the NCAA here). Pro football is boring as hell. I rarely watch TV at all, but when I do, it’s usually some sort of sport. European sport interests me more perhaps because it’s different.

Same here, I just don’t have much tv time anymore. NBA is the one sport I pay attention to but I’m not obsessive about it. Most of my “tv” watching is when I bring my tablet to bed and fall asleep to Bob Ross on youtube.

I went to my 8th-grade son’s awards ceremony today (A honor roll) and one of the kids who received an award was wearing a Bob Ross tee shirt. His teacher pointed it out, but not many of the parents knew the reference, and that’s just not happy.

I drive past a driving range on my way to the gym. I often curse the people there when I see them out hitting balls in single-digit temps, or in the rain, or some other time when it would be undesirable to be outside. Then I go remind myself that I’m on my way to spend a couple hours lifting and running, the same as I do 6 days a week, and I am also insane.
