Kinja'd!!!

It sure is divisive for looks, and I think people either get that its supposed to be ugly or they don’t.

I personally get it. I like that its ugly, its not UGLY ugly like a Nissan Versa, or a Nissan NV or a Nissan...most of their cars...its more a personal taste thing.

They are hideously slow though, and noisy and frankly don’t return the kind of mileage you would hope for with the aforementioned tradeoffs.

I like the floating glass and the asymmetry, I like that its a big middle finger to data centric design ethos or some such cobbling together of jargon. I like that someone just thought it would be fun to do it that way.

Its pretty practical for its size too, which I also like.

The interior is likewise an acquired taste and thats the part I would have to live with every day. After all, only other people see the car your driving from the outside...and who cares what they think? The interior though, thats all yours to cherish.

I wish this got the e4wd for extra weirdness and versatility but it would have hurt the already razor thin business case for buying one.

I still kinda smile when I see these on the road...which is less and less.

There styling cues from this car that I love. the lower rear fascia and the front fascia have portions that look like they belong on a Nissan Miata fighter.

I really like these. I might pick one up if I find a dirt cheap one.

I wish they had made the blacked out d-pillar smaller. And the dash pubes were simply not a very good idea:

However that headliner is damn cool:

I don’t hate it either, it’s quite a fun and different looking car.

Also, due to this post I learned about Nissan’s e4wd system, and since the Cube/March etc. using this system are on the Renault/Nissan B platform, just like my Twingo, this kinda makes me want to build an e4wd Twingo....

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

My mom owns one of these. She pretty much is a dedicated city-driver and returns a consistent 31-33mpg out of hers. Not that bad considering it’s brick-like aerodynamics. But yeah, it is terribly slow and the soul-sucking CVT does its best to remove all fun from driving.

It’s quite easy to work on though so I do enjoy that about it. And I do like the quirky looks and it’s quite roomy inside. The seats are weird to sit in. They’re not bad, they just feel ‘weird’ for lack of a better term.

I used to own one. And the reason I used to, was because of what you mentioned.

I loved the versatility of the thing. I removed the rear seats in mine and it was a mini-minivan to carry around my dogs in.

But, it was like driving a slow, noisy sofa. Mine was the CVT which made it worse. The gas mileage just wasn’t very good in it. I get that it’s not aerodynamic, but mileage was just too much of a tradeoff. I figured if I had to not get great gas mileage I might as well have more fun, so I traded it in for a Mazda 3 2.5, which got me similar mileage but was definitely a plus in the fun factor.

I used to own one, and if you really dislike the seats that much, there’s a company called Clazzio that makes seat covers for them. They’re slightly padded. It made a world of difference to me. They aren’t that expensive if you get the PVC, which did a great imitation of leather to me. http://www.clazzio.com/car-leather-kits.php

I much prefer the second generation and have long been an admirer. In Australia the only Cubes we have are imported. No one in their right might would get anything but the second gen, so the others are fantastically rare
