Car did it’s job. Glad to see this guy walk away but that guard rail should have been replaced before he even hit it.

Now this one here is damn scary. They really need concrete barriers in front of the spectator area. As fast and heavy as these cars are they should have concrete barriers to the 150 foot mark at least and I think that’s a NHRA rule but I’m betting this is a outlaw track as in no sanctioning body affiliation.

If that second car was set up as a gasser, those people would be dead for sure.

The deadliest auto racing crash in the US happened at a drag strip with insufficient spectator protection. Look up the Yellow River Drag Strip. (Fun fact: My girlfriend’s house is literally built on the former track. They just added a few more roads and made it a neighborhood, but her street has the actual track under a layer or two of newer asphalt.)

Yup you are correct read of that before horrific. I think drag racing fans are the only ones worse than rally fans.

The fun fact is kinda neat .

I watched this event last weekend. It was called No Prep Mayhem, and these were the Big Tire cars - the fastest of the fast. Three cars wrecked in the first round, which is more than normal. The first car (the promod running against the HoneyBadger) was a brand new build. They need to have concrete barriers down the whole track. That guardrail made things way worse. If concrete barriers were used, he would have probably stayed on the track at least. To add insult to injury, the stacker trailer hauling the promod that wrecked caught on fire on the way home. It burned to the ground with what remained of the car inside.

Yeah that’s on the tail end of the video. 100 percent agree on the concrete barriers. I love me some no prep racing but they’re playing with fire. Some ones gonna get hurt if they don’t step up they’re safety.

There’s another track that uses guard rails (maybe the Hub or Da Pad). The Lizard (bright green promod) went over the guard rail in a similar fashion. No prep is, imho, bringing a lot of new people to the sport.

Lapeer dragway up here in Michigan is all steel guardrails but it’s a little outlaw track just a win light no boards. No prep is the hot new thing now for sure.
