I made myself a cup of green tea for breakfast and it tasted like green tea.

Have you jiggled the wheel side to side while trying to turn the key yet?

Huh, my Alfa’s ignition would turn no matter what you decided to use as a key.

“Aw shit, I left the key inside. Good thing I have my pocket knife and don’t need to walk 10 feet to go get it”

It’s simply preventing anything else from breaking

Growing up my dad had a 96 Bronco, you could pull the key out while driving and it would still run.

Yup, my Alfa did that too if you were actually using the key

Have you looked into replacing it yourself? It’s not a complex system and replacing could be pretty simple.

The key in my S3 spider does/ did this.

The first time it was because my key was starting to fail and was actually slightly twisted. Hammered it flat and it worked fine until I got a new one cut.

It still does it sometimes even with the new key and pulling on the key core assembly seems to help.

I’m not going to say that the ignition switch swap is easy... but it sure LOOKS easy...
