I would impolitely decline.
Mostly because the Metro system around here is almost exactly the same as it was in 1976. The trains have orange carpeting. They smell as you would expect.

I just moved back to a city with public transport that actually works which is fantastic. I’m ditching my car which costs me about 500$ a month (all in - no payments). I almost bought a Camaro SS last night, after seeing the payments and realizing I could purchase 3 properties ( downpayments )for that ... I’m doing the latter.

I lived in Prague for 6 months and never needed or wanted a car, it was great. I traveled all over Europe with no issues.

Horses can only get you so far, so fast. You can’t ride a horse at a gallop for 7 miles straight. If you want your horse to last, you go at a walk. If you’re in kinda a hurry, you can cycle it through walk/trot/canter/gallop a couple of times. If you’re in a super, duper “my life depends on it” hurry, you’re shit outta luck. It’s not cost effective to ride a horse until it’s foaming at the mouth and on the point of collapse like in Gone with the Wind. And even if it was, you’d need remounts every couple of miles. Like literally, just a couple.
Horses are cool and all, but they still need a shit ton of money for food, proper shelter, vet care, shoes, etc. And you can’t just leave your horse out in the driveway all day for days at a time like you can a car. I mean, well, if it had food and water, you probably could, but it’s cruel. Horses have personalities and need socialization just like people.

I actually think urban car bans would be practical (and that’s one thing about Alissa Walker’s posts, she was talking about the urban context)... but rural car bans would go over like a lead balloon.
If you got one in place, you’d get urbanization and fast (but it’d consist of people who resent urban areas and everything about them - up to and including people who literally think that cities are an affront to God, based on the story of Babel), but you’d probably also get lots of loophole seeking - “wait, cars are banned, but heavy duty trucks are allowed for farm work... I’ll just daily a dually diesel, like I was going to anyway” - to get around the ban.

I took the metro from the convention center to Alexandria the other day. Yellow line wasn’t operating because safetrack so I took a green to the nearest blue and got to my destination in a speedy 2+ hours all told! Only consistent thing is the smell of urine, haha
