Bought a wider set of RPF1s in preparation for the increased power I’ll be putting down. Decision was purely driven by function, but I was not expecting them to be so much better looking! In the picture below, the wheel in front is a 17x7.5 +48 and is what I was running previously on all four corners and the one in back is a 17x9 +35 is what I will be running now. The flatter slopes and face improve the look 100%. Just have to get some tires better than the ExtremeContact DWs and I’ll be good to go.

Of course, I couldn’t resist the chance to test fit them. With the wheel sitting almost 1 1/4" further out than the last set everything looks much better also.

Vs the old setup.

Good photo of the old setup, so it’ll be like this, only with less suck.

Sorry bro but I need an update on the Miata.

Those are sweet wheels though, RPF-1's look great on FRS/BRZ’s

I assumed y’all were tired of the shitball Miata ;)

I have an update planned for that after I run a few more autocrosses and get it dialed.

Nice! I, for one, am NEVER tired hearing about someone else’s shitball Miata. Makes me feel better about my own shitball Miata.

Please do give us an update! I remember seeing all that turbo stuff you picked up too... Any progress there or still accumulating parts?

Oh, and what tires are you running on the new wheels? For a good street/track compromise, I recommend Hankook RS3's.

I have all the parts, but need a manifold, turns out the kit was actually for a 1.8. Everything else should fall into place if I just sort out a manifold.

As for tires, I’ll probably be running the new Nexen RS3 copy, the SUR4. One of the fast track guys I know just picked up a set and really likes them. That or maybe some 595RSRRs.

I’ve never heard of those Nexen tires, I’ll have to check them out.. I’m hopping my RS3's last a second summer, but it doesn’t look too good. Damn things will be slicks by August probably. They wear QUICK but the grip is practically unlimited with 205 width tires on a Miata.

the TurboMiata forum classifieds are where you should search. I’m sure a 1.6 manifold will come up for sale for relatively cheap- since everyone turbos 1.8's on that forum some guys will probably want to get rid of their 1.6 stuff for cheap.

Yeah, with how much track time I do, I’m going to try to save a little on consumables this year. Up until now I’ve been running AD08Rs. they do great, but make my wallet cry big green tears.

Problem is, it’s a weird turbo. An old Begi kit with an aerocharger. Real cool little snail, internally lubricated, no cooling lines, no wastegate (!!!), variable geometry, but it uses it’s own flange, so even with a normal 1.6 turbo manifold there is still some custom fab needed.
