I booked a test ride for 2 of my potential replacments, the MT-10 and the GSX-S1000. MT will be ridden April 28th, and the suzuki the week after.
Cant wait to throw my legs over them.

And you know what I fucking love it. there is no easier way to make your nice, shiney, state of the art motorcycle look like it just dropped out of 1945 then to slap a round headlight on it and be done with.
look how shit that looks. same bike, 2 years apart. the older one on the left looks like its from the mid 2000s (actually designed on 2003) the on on the right, which is the NEWER bike, looks like something my grandpa would ride.
now, same bike, different headlight
boom, suddenly it looks like it from this side of the turn of the century.

Due to a semi-NSFW nature of the pics, I will only link them. But I found a website last night called “UnderPowerMotors”. It’s all in japanese but it’s some mix of bike news and fan art of new bikes. And by fan art, I mean “let’s draw anime girls on the bikes”. I enjoyed the KLR being ridden by a seedy looking thief girl in a post-apocalypse cyberpunk world. But I think you might enjoy sexy maid on an MT-10 or perhaps this lovely little number on a GSX-S750 (they don’t have an anime girl on an S1000 yet)
No SV650s either. Sorry :(

I was underwhelmed :(
Engine felt slower reacting than my ‘03, felt heavier too. A nicer package overall (let’s face it, the mid 2000's SV was just a budget UJM that they got a lot of stuff right on), but didn’t feel as fun.
I’d argue that the FZ-07 is a such better SV than the current SV.

its more popular then you think. again, I just think that after 50 years, there is a better design.
the JW speakers that light up more as you lean are really really neat, and I would ride a bike with that. but just the single, straight up 7inch light? eh. time to move on.

FZ-7 didnt have ABS first few year and it also had shit suspension. BUT didnt have the aftermarket to fix it.
I’;ll have to see. I’m really really hoping its not a gladius with old SV geometry

I agree with you here: newer bikes should never have the round 7" headlamp. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rubber-necked at the sight of a 7 incher thinking it’s a classic, only to find it’s a GS500 or Shadow when it gets closer.

Ya you never know, the Suzuki could become #1 and the Yamaha last. I used to have a Triumph so I would say get the street triple, but I am biased on those.

hence why I’m riding them.
I dont like the suzuki less for mechanical issues, but it doesnt have LED lighting, it doesnt have a good lookin dash, its got a VERY old motor in it (engine is based off the K5! GSX-R1000) and looking at it, it doesnt ‘speak’ to me yea know?
I want the triumph, but the reliablity scares me (and i do a LOT of miles in a year...something close to 30K miles)

My 08 Daytona would regularly blow voltage regulators, almost once a month. It got so by that I contacted one of the heads of North American Triumph. They hooked me up with a brand new 2009 Daytona. For some reason they put the regulator right next to the exhaust and it would fry it. In 09 they had this fixed so I would assume they wont have any problems like that again.
