Yeah admit it, on occasion it’s fun to laugh at the the woes suffered by McLaren from their Honda power units. But imagine being Honda and having all five of your Super GT works cars fail over a race weekend. While one suffered failure during practice, the remaining five continued on as normal until the formation laps, where they all proceeded to break. All five of the Honda NSX-GTs in the GT500 class suffered the same failure from the ECU. Only the Mugen car, which suffered the failure during practice had a normal race. Two of the other cars managed to make it back on track, but several laps down. The pace car, the road going Honda NSX, was fine.

It’s because they don’t revto the stratosphere anymore. Bereft of purpose, these Honda race motors kill themselves.
It’s a shame really.

The part in question has been in use since 2014 as well. Odd that all of a sudden there’d be a quintet of dead cars like this.

The brand new Mark X oversteered straight into a wall and the brand new BRZ had a rather fiery engine failure too. :(

Was sad to see the Mark X hit the wall because it had only been on camera a few times! Love the variety and weirdness in Super GT. This is my first time watching it. Glad NISMO.tv provides a stream and replay of the races.

Their commentary team definitely makes the race more enjoyable. Great insight into the different teams in each class. It’s a great series to follow if you have the time.
