Got my first little mod for the Passat last night. Euro headlight switch. Easy install, OEM part, and gives you all of the options it should have had from the factory.

This lets me run the DRLs with the fog lights and keep the DRLs on while the blinker is going it looks nice don’t really know why it wasnt this way from the factory

Dude, be careful. The Euroswitch was my first mod on the B5 Passat around 2001. It’s a gateway drug! (and 16 years later, I still have it mounted in my B5.5 wagon...with no other mods)

Because in the US it’s illegal for the DRL’s to be on with the blinker if they are within some certain proximity, or something like that.

Yeah I know I haven’t modded a car since I had the mustang a few years ago but I have the itch to do a bunch of little OEM+ type upgrades to this car. no real crazy mods just little features and this is just the first

Some of the vag cars can be coded out via the vagcom. That’s a nice piece of kit to have if you have a vag car. Rosstech vcds.
So with that switch, can you run the fogs while it’s in auto? On mine, it makes me switch to lights on to use the fogs function.

Awesome, that was one of my favourite mods to my mk3 Jetta.. plus the euro switch also added rear fog once the bulb was plugged in;

Had one on my B6 wagon. It came with the car though. I was going to wire up a rear fog but ended up selling it to move.

Though this is a Skoda forum it shows what can be done with a VCDS (or as here an Obdeleven) which can be used on all VAG cars.

You can alter how your car behaves such as increasing the accelerator response by configuring it from VW to Audi, being able to open and close the windows via the remote keyfob (which apparently isn’t always abled on U.S. cars, having the rear light on along with the DRLs increasing visibility., etc...
