Do you have any experience with the V12 Toyota Century? I’m going to import one ASAP in 2022, but im not sure in terms of reliability. I presume it’ll be like a big LS400, which works for me.

It’s Toyota’s superpremium signature car in the home market, sold to tycoons, prime ministers, and Yakuza bosses, no doubt including most of Akio Toyoda’s peer group. And it sure as hell doesn’t sell on cutting edge tech. It’ll be reliable enough to make a Hilux look like a Landrover. Anything less would cause unacceptable loss of face.

It’s reliable, but if you need something or of something happen, it’s Bentley prices... Even here. Everything was custom made for this car. Tons of parts are unique to it... I’ve only been driven in one once, and it’s a great car... But you need deep pockets of something happens.

It’s not a V-12. They were offered from 1971-1975 (Series III’s.) Like the photo.
It’s likely 4.2L I-6. Guessing a 1966/67. Last of the Series I’s with the covered front headlamps.

Likely not. But, the first visual indication would be the exhaust pipes / tip configuration.

It really didn’t have an inline 6 sound... Driving next to it with the top of the Beat down, this thing had a GLORIOUS sound!

Unlikely. That’s a lot of work to make a V12 work in the earlier cars. It’s also a really bad idea (performance and value) to ruin the characteristics of a smaller, lighter S1 car with that heavier engine that really only made about 10 more hp than the 4.2.
However... I wasn’t there and can only see the rear end and the trunk badging, and have seen weirder things done to E-Types. Anything is possible, I suppose.
