The central gable with the little door under it makes me think it is a 2 unit townhouse or duplex, but I suspect it isn’t. Kind of faux craftsman, but not really, I guess this is PNW transitional style with the metal roof.

homes under 5,000 square feet do not require a licensed architect’s stamp. anyone can design them. Certain states and counties may have different structural engineering requirements.
this is why there’s a ton of houses just a hair under 4,999 square feet and not too many 5,001 sf homes.

If you look at just the right section, it almost looks passable. However taking in the whole building just makes it look like a mediocre small house was attacked by attacked by a giant ugly garage. I can see how that could happen as an addition that got out of hand, but as new purpose-built house, its pretty inexpiable, especially when it would have been so easy to have a symmetric design.

I have a thing for mid-century and contemporary style houses. I like the interesting layouts, vaulted ceilings, and extra windows. The reality is that while they’re architecturally cool, the insides of them can certainly be dated. Contemporaries in particular can kinda look like bunkers, and here in Madison they often also look like timber lodges on the inside, but the structures themselves are nice and can be awesome with some updates.
I actually had recently done a search for houses with the vibe I like, regardless of price, so here you go. Many of these need a not-insignificant amount of updates, and they lean more toward contemporary than mid-century, but should give you an idea of my style.

Not bad! Little bit of midwestern prairie in those too. I live in an updated ‘50s modern, and opening up the floor plan to make a great room with floor-to-ceiling windows modernized it a ton. I’d love something even more contemporary like your original comment...not that I have the kajillion dollars such a thing would cost.
