As an aside, why do monorails suck? There really don’t seem to be that many that are actually successful as public transportation. Sydney even ditched theirs in favor of light rail. It seems like in theory they should be nearly strictly better than elevated rail (with the exception of difficult switching). All the advantages of a grade separated system, with tracks that block far less light than traditional elevated rail, and significantly less expensive to build than a subway. And yet, they clearly haven’t taken off.
