Put a Cadillac nose on your Late Model.

This Aberdeen SD’s Kent Arment at the Test&Tune at Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, SD. He’s something of a local legend, with over 600 feature wins since 1990. He runs a WISSOTA Modified as well and jumps back and forth between the two cars during a race night. He races 3 nights a week in the summertime and it’s not uncommon for him to get 3-5 wins a weekend.

Here’s an article from back in 2011 when he got #500.

Also, if there is a dirt track near you, go this summer. It’s inexpensive motorsports fun. Better yet, go a few times, go to the pits, find some favorite guys to follow and keep up with them. Watching is much more fun when you have someone to pull for.

they just redid the route 66 dirt oval in joliet bring it down from a half mile to 3/8th for better racing and i plan on going a few times this summer. should be fun. the TORQ trucks are gonna be there in may then they have a whole slew of other events with sprint cars, late models, demolition derbys and even a monster truck event

The track I mentioned in the article was a half mile back in the 70s as well. They shortened it to 3/8ths and it has great racing. That way it actually comes down to setups and lines rather than horsepower.

I started playing dirt through iRacing and I really want to give it a go. Is it possible to race without buying a car? Formula Ford is still my priority but if jumping into a Street Stock is only a couple hundred bucks I’d be down to give it a try!

Aside from going to the local tracks, trying to make friends, and get some seat time in their car, I’m not sure. I know there are some sprint car and late model schools similar to the Richard Petty Driving experience.
