1973 Matchbox Rolamatics no. 69 ‘Turbo Fury’ in surprisingly good condition. The big fans on the back still turn with the wheels. As usual, $0.89/lb, so this probably set me back a dime or two.

Why isn’t the blue shaker 96?

I really need to hit the outlet store in the city up. I went to the one in hazlewood, and it was fairly calm. I heard the downtown one is nuts.

I’m more worried about the missing engine.

Yeah, it can get a bit crazy at times; I’ve been threatened with violence from some rather overzealous shoppers, but it’s hard to take any of it seriously. My office at Metro is just around the corner, so I have a hard time not going over there, although I really have to cut it back to just a couple of visits per week. Mid day is best; when I got off at noon I found better stuff than when I went over there around 4:30.

Are you still downtown at CPI?

Bummer that. Didn’t even notice. Probably not “worth” anything, but cool to look at. I would keep that too if I got it. Esp at 89¢/pound like OP mentioned.

I don’t have that many, but most of them are from the early 70s. I think these are called “Shaker” and “Tyre fryer”

No, been running my own small jobs. I’ll be near home next couple days or more. The rental house is vacant and not sure what I want to do with it. With give it up to bank and screw up my credit or patch and sell and save credit and spend a lot of money.

I don’t have many that old but anything that old I’d keep ahold of.

Those are pretty sweet.

Matchbox cars were always numbered 1-75, never higher, so 96 wasn’t possible if they were to match the sticker to the model number.

I don’t undersatand. Is that not an 86? I was thinking it would just be easier to put the numbers backwards from 69 to 96 instead of making it 86.

Trivial things that interest us.

Hmm, you are correct. I think I misread that as 68 or something. The racing number matches the model number on the Turbo Fury and assumed that the same would be true on the Blue Shaker, but thanks to that cryptic, difficult to read and oh so ‘70s font I got it wrong.

Shit, you’re right. It did say “shark”

I had them all out, and was also looking at one called “shaker.”
