And rode one. 2017 Monster 821. I could get off of the Sportster and onto this for a reasonable dollar amount. Need to get insurance quote and convince the wife first. Loved it. Nimble, adequately powerful, comfortable, awesome exhaust note. And the wonderful people at Motocorsa (search motocorsa calendar for the lulz, but it’s kind of nsfw) offered better trade on the sporty than the dealer I bought it from. Plus I’ve been in lust with monsters forever. What color would you go for oppo? flat black, red/flat gray, or red?

was wondering when you’d trade that bucket of bolts for something else.
I would avoid the flat paints, they are a pain to take care of.
then again, I ride too much to really take care of my bikes paint, so whatever lasts the longest with minimal care.

The thing that gets me about Ducati, at least on some of their bikes, is that they have nicely finished hardware in some places (axle nut, sprocket retainer/hold-down) but then the clutch and brake fluid reservoirs look like plastic piss cups just hanging off of the bars.

Yeah... I mean the sporty gets lots of looks and compliments, and it’s fun to throw around around town, but that’s about it. Tried getting out of it last year, but couldn’t make the numbers work. Now it’s paid down quite a bit further, so no big deal really.
Excellent point about the flat paints. But the only non-flat currently available is red, they don’t make it in white anymore

It’s a good looking combo. Flat black and bright red are awfully played-out.
There is a Triumph/Ducati/KTM dealer four blocks from my house ... I cannot afford to allow myself to step foot on that property.

budget for a pipe. slip on if you’re cheap, termi+upmap is good if you want ease and have metric fucktons of money. rapidbike EVO+whatever-slip-on-you-want is the direction I’ve gone with my 821-equipped-duc.
but it needs a pipe. let the duc song ring freeeeeeeeeee

Red/grey definitely. I rode around on the previous gen owned by a buddy for a while, great overall package, real fun machine.

I run a competition werkes on my hyper 821. here it is on a monster 821.
It’s loud, but still quieter than my Thruxton was with pipes. I put Harleys to shame with those. lmao.

Of course they do. But I had to do something while they looked at my bike and ran numbers. Plus they were super busy with the supersport (which they told me to come back in a couple days to ride, knowing full well I’m not buying it) premier. So I had plenty of time to kill.
