After being confronted with incontrovertible empirical evidence, he couldn’t continue maintaining that the Earth is fla-AHAHAHAHAHA naw, JK. He’s a brick wall. Thing is, anyone with a few hundred bucks now can take a pic from the stratosphere and see for themselves , but he declined for obvious reasons.

They wouldn’t go. A person will not voluntarily shatter his or her own worldviews. Some who will deny evidence of the Earth being round is also someone who will deny opportunities for more round earth evidence to be found.

Nah, the flat Earth thing doesn’t have anything to do with the 1st amendment. Anywhere else in the world people will laugh at those people and that will be it... Let them believe their shit and talk/argue about it as much as they want... It’s too dumb to be a problem. Unless you live in a nation where education is seriously lacking and where religious fanatism is actually a problem (and no, I’m not taking about Muslim fanatism here)

I can kind of (just kind of) get why people way back in ancient times would have thought that the earth is flat, but I just can’t conceive how someone now, with all of the movies, and astronauts, and space tourism, can possibly believe it. It blows my mind.
Edit: Try to get your friend to explain why ships disappear over the horizon as they sail out to sea.
