Home for the next 11.5 hours or so. 747 upper deck from Tokyo to Detroit. This is after 7 hours from Singapore to Tokyo. Most likely this will be my last big 747 ride as they retire in a year or so.

I’m so jealous. I’ve always wanted to fly a 747...

Interesting, I thought Delta had retired their international long-haul 747s for A330s. I used to fly between Detroit and Nagoya a lot for work, and they made the switch a few years back on that route.

The 747s are still pounding around. A few have retired, but not all.

When my parents moved to Asia, I would go 4-5 times/ year, always upper deck business class. Pre pod days, but still lay flat. I always loved it. Upper deck always felt like a private intimate space. The A380 just doesn’t feel the same, and single deck planes always make you conscious of how big the aircraft was.

Same. I need to fly on one before they’re retired.

Me too. I’ve only been on 777s for international flights.
