And if it weren’t a Mazda or Volvo, most of this site would agree.
They’ve made the grill massive(like several of you have shat on other vehicles for), and then given it lip injections. Sure, the interior is nice, but the rest of the CX-9 looks like shit. It makes the Malibu look somewhat tasteful.

The grill is absolutely oversized, but it’s nowhere near the “worst front end of any car on sale”. Just off the top of my head, there’s the Cherokee, 500L, Juke, CR-V, Civic, Malibu, or pretty much any current Toyota/Lexus. Even the CX-3 is uglier.

I was shocked with how well the new Miata was received I thought it would appear too aggressive. I was very mistaken
I can understand though if you don’t like the way it looks. These things are subjective and open to interpretation.

Well I built the Mazda booth this year and installed it, I got a long look at all the cars, I don’t mind it. I think it’s supposed to evoke the old Mazda grille. I’m more upset at all the car electronic nannies and fobbery.

I don’t hate it, I don’t love it. Windshield back it’s quite nice, the front is just enough to throw it off a little. The design works best of the 6, and the CX5 looks good as well.

They aren’t even that big inside. I was disappointed. Sitting behind a driver’s position adjusted for myself, I had more backseat room in a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport than I did in the big Mazda.

Fords are disappointing, too. Fiesta, Focus, and Explorer all have tiny backseats for their class. I sat in those behind myself, too. Even though I’m tall, I fit pretty nicely in a lot of cars.

I’ll reserve my opinion until I see one in person. The Lexus predator grille looks awful in pictures but not too bad to fitting (depending on application) in person.
I’ll agree that out of all the Mazdas, this one photographs the worst.
And to go against your statement: the Toyota iA and new Prius have worse front ends. I might be able to come up with more if I think on it

I think its personal. I really like it. I’m not s huge fan of the new Chevy split up/down grill and the refresh Ford explorer isn’t as good as the orig. The Toyota and Honda Pilot aren’t bad.. The Lexus is still just weird. I do like the Buick and the pre-refresh GMC is nice. The one negative with the Mazda is that it’s a bit smaller than say the Honda or the GM siblings.

They don’t have to try, all they need to be is big, in your face, and attention-seeking. People buy trucks for two reasons: 1) To work, so they don’t care how they look as long as they do the job. 2) To look “tough”/”manly”. That’s it. About a third of the auto market in the US is trucks and the buyers mostly will not willingly buy anything else, so as long as they hit both of the above, they’ll sell.

Agreed. I checked one out whilst getting my oil changed and was surprised by the lack of interior space. It made my Mazda5 seem quite spacious by comparison. Don’t get me wrong - the interior was beautiful and of very high quality, just not all that roomy.
