But at $5450 and a claimed 34,000 original miles, this American looks pretty sweet.

I had a Rambler for a few years, it was awesome! Mine was a 1969 model in nowhere near as nice condition, if that was closer to me I’d consider buying it.

Wow, that thing is NICE! Usually when I see, “price is 100% firm,” I think, “Eff-off dick,” but that is a seriously nice price.

It shouldn’t be diesel, that’s the 196ci I-6 AMC put in a bunch of their cars (and Jeeps) back then.

That’s what I figured. Isn’t that a early variation of the later 258?

I’m not sure, my history of AMC engines isn’t that extensive.
I may be wrong on the engine as well, research shows they had the 199ci and 232ci I-6's at the same time. My engine knowledge is way less than I thought.... Either way it’s an I-6 that’s Gasoline fueled for sure.

Ick on the black bumpers, and I’m not sold that the odo hasn’t rolled over, but I don’t care - still a buyer at that price all day long. NP - a steal in fact.
Also the 280 is held back by being a 2+2. No one wants those, but if you do, that thing looks pristine at that price. NP again

That Ranbler isn’t something I’d really want, but it’s such a seductively cheap entry to owning a classing car.

Exactly. At some point in the near future I want to buy a classic car, but I don’t want to spend a lot of $, so I can both drive it regularly and learn some better wrenching skills without worrying about ruining the value of a $25k+ car. This would be a nice way to go if I was ready.

That’s already more than I knew about AMC I 6s but yeah gas for sure.
And that’s still a really nice car.

I miss my ‘69 Rambler, if this ‘66 was closer I’d consider buying it.
