Kinja'd!!!

Car was stored at the shop that does the heavy/technical work this winter. Before I took the car out I had them install a Bilstein B12 Pro kit, Ground Control Street camber plates, and Rouge Engineering rear shock mounts. Plus they mounted and aligned the BMW 260M wheels I bought last spring with the brand new Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires. Car felt great in the 80 or so miles I drove tonight.

How do you like the b12 kit? Thinking about ordering the euro b12 kit for the 335i.

Nice wheels!

I had the Rogue Engineering RSMs on my old E30, they held up great. I got them after tearing through no less than SIX OEM mounts, every single one broken after hitting various potholes.

So far I think it has provided the small drop I wanted (crucial with the 18s), maintained a near stock ride quality, and reduced the body roll that drove me nuts plus it seemed to improve high speed composure as well.

Would recommend at this point but only more mileage will tell. And I believe that you turned me on to these wheels on M3post and for that I thank you!

The OE ones are notoriously terrible on the E46 as well so this definitely gives me piece of mind and they can be rebuilt!

No problem! Glad to help. Nice to hear you are liking the kit. I just want to have the front a little lower to match the rear and I’d be set. Don’t really wanna go down the coilover route.

Part of me just wants to sell it and buy an E46 M3. Your post doesn’t help!

Yeah, coilovers would be overkill for what you and I need. In the future if it becomes more of a track car I will consider coilovers but they will be Ohlins, Motons, JRZ’s, etc. I read too many threads about how harsh most popular coilovers are for street driving.

Edit- Yes please come to the E46 M dark side!

Tbh it gets more and more tempting every day.. one of my friends just got an FRS, and I was teaching him to drive stick in it. Makes the 335i feel so cushy and luxurious. I want something more raw tbh. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my car, but I’ve always wanted an E46 M3.

I wonder how maintenance would compare N54 vs S54...

The thing that seems to freak most people out are the VANOS and subframe issues, which can be remedied permanently. Maintaining it wouldn’t be hard even if you put a lot of miles on. I get the valves adjusted every 15k, oil is every 3k (probably safe to 5k but old habits die hard), and I try to follow the Inspection 1 & 2 schedule as much as I can. I also have a great independent mechanic close by, which I think has improved my ownership experience greatly.

Granted a lot of this depends on how well the previous owners took care of the car and the mileage on the car when you buy. I bought mine nearly 3 years ago with 88k and now I have 130k, so I have definitely pumped some money in. The experience is worth it in my opinion.
