Isn’t that a bit excessive? I understand wanting to build the fastest car and all, but these people kill the grassroots racing leagues.

I guess I’m confused on how you could spend $800k on a 996. Porsche will sell you actual race cars for less than that. That’s enough to buy a fleet of Gt2/3 for your racing aspirations.

The West DSR that was also built so he could destroy grassroot competition isn’t in the auction, strangely. If I had the money, I would love to have one of those 458s, but I’d always have that guilt in the back of my mind that the car was originally purchased by screwing people over.
