Kinja'd!!!

Let’s talk about storage space.

When I first got my Boxster I worried that it would not be able handle all my luggage but I was proved wrong.

Frunk: The front-trunk is perfectly sized for two carry on bags and has a little extra room to stuff soft things around them.

Trunk: The traditional trunk can hold one carry on bag but is better suited your hanging clothes. I typically will put my suits, pants, jackets, and shirts all in one garment bag and lay it flat. My GF does the same with her dresses and like frunk there is room for soft things like an overnight bag on top of the garment bags.

And the cabin has a fair bit of storage too.

The point of this summary is that a Boxster offers enough storage space for two people for a weekend trip. Longer trips are possible but require careful planning and it is not unusual to completely fill all of the storage space.

What small cars of yours proved unexpectedly capable haulers?

Between the tiny trunk, dashboard shelf, tiny glove compartment, area between the seats around the handbrake, and area behind the seats, I’ve yet to run out of places to put my thing when driving my Alfa Spider.

I guess it really isn’t “unexpected” but I used to own a first-generation Fit that could haul a ridiculous amount of stuff for its size. They are panckaged really well - the big “trick” is that Honda put the fuel tank under the front seats to open up cargo area. It’s also a small tank and range suffers - you were lucky to get 300 miles on a tank. Anyway, for that tradeoff We could cram way more in it than the larger 2nd-gen RAV4 we replaced with it.

Those things are pretty roomy. I remember driving down to the beach in one with three other friends and a weekend food and beer.

S2000: trunk is pretty big and usefully-shaped, for a roadster. Could probably fit two carry-ons in there. Other than that, there’s the “glove box” and secret compartment, pretty much nothing else.

I turned my whole car into a pocket space. More like a work van.

The pathfinder is the case of a large car with surprisingly little interior space. My 3rd gen 4runner was even worse because it had a full frame, but unless you are traveling with one passenger and the whole rear folded down it has about as much space as a normal station wagon. Interior storage cubbies and all that are plentiful though, and I travel alone with an inflatable boat in the back most of the time, so it works for me.

Besides, I bought it to rip up mountain fire roads not to carry people

My Solstice storage configuration:

Glovebox

Owners’ Manual

Sunglasses

Cubby Hole under waterfall

Box of mints

Cupholder ashtray used as coin holder and lighter

Seat Bottom Pockets

Uncut and non-transponder key I use to open glovebox

Lifting and jacking point map, getting tired of dealers denting my panels

Seat Back Pockets

Super-outdated road atlas

Flashlight

Top mounted storage pouch a.k.a “attic”

CDs (yes, I used to burn a lot, don’t really use them anymore)

Bluetooth headset

Tire Gauge

Gas points cards

Trunk

Tire Mobility Kit

Rear wind deflector

Only space left is in the trunk. You could get 4 pieces of fitted luggage, provided you keep the top up. Otherwise maximum 2.

Tucker. He can fit 4 wheels, a dolly a gym bag full of bras, another bag of bras, (this picture was taken like a year before I came out), and still have room to spare.

There are two bonus secret compartments behind each taillight as well. The caverns are large enough to fit a LARGE amount of illegal substances trailer light cabling with even more hidden space behind the insulation.

Storage space in my car? Let’s see, center console? Nope, don’t have one of those. Glove box? Barely big enough for the owners manual and paperwork. Under radio storage? Nothing from the factory but I added a little tray that’s barely big enough to hold my small phone. Door pockets? Long narrow space good for items such as sunglasses and gloves (but not winter gloves unless you want to put one glove in each door). Pockets on backs of seats? Only on the passenger side but you have to pull the seat forward to actually get anything in it because otherwise the rear seat gets in the way. Trunk? You could put 2 backpacks in the trunk. Cupholders? Hahahahaha, you got three but they are only about 2 inches in diameter so they’re useless.

I did not realize that the soft top for the solstice took up trunk space! But looks like you made good use of the space.

The blue one was my first attainable dream car. I picked it up as a new lease in 2012. The little thing has been my companion through the hardest, greatest changes in my life so far. So much can happen in 5 years!!

In September 2016 the engine caught fire after hemorrhaging all of its oil. That’s when a good friend (I’m basically a celebrity in the US smart community) gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse, a brand new 2016 edition #1 smart for the trade of my dead blue smart. The only caveat being I had to go to California from Chicago to get it.

I decided to do it. The dealer decided to let me keep the blue car too , seeing as it was 2,000+ miles away. I also fixed the blue one and got it running again, so now I have two working cars! I either want to restore the blue one or turn it into a little offroader.

Just a lil 14 foot inflatable kayak/boat. Its for rivers and lakes and I wanted it because I live in a (rented) townhouse and dont have space for a trailer and boat. It stays in the car because why not, only takes up about as much space as a cary on suitcase. I can still have 5 occupants but with the subwoofer and the boat the trunk is almost full.
