Kinja'd!!!

After a good six months plus, I finally got to take the scooter for a ride tonight!

I serviced it a few weeks ago, but the weather and free time never aligned until tonight. It got an oil change, gear lube changed, a new spark plug (the old one looked fine, but the replacement was like $2.50), a new air filter, and a new battery (because my lazy ass didn’t put it on a battery tender back in November).

I finally confirmed that all the work got the scooter in working order. I was concerned I’d have to pull the carb apart and clean it, because I didn’t properly winterize it for storage. It was nearly out of gas, in fact it ran out before it got out of the driveway, so I had to run out with a gas can for a gallon of fresh premium. That did the trick. I won’t push my luck again like that.

It was still pretty chilly, so I only rode about 2-1/2 miles, but it was damn fun to get the little Super 8 back on the road!

Random question. I have an acquaintance that is an shop teacher everything he ever talks about relating to school with me is automotive related. I have large generator that is having carb issues. Easy enough to fix (replace carb) but was thinking about offering it up to him and his students to diagnose/repair. Obviously I would cover any cost but I’m just unsure if its cool to ask him if he wants him and his kids to take a crack at it. I do want the generator back but am in no rush. Any thoughts?

Small engines are a specialty. If he teaches small engines (which a lot of high schools do teach), then go ahead and ask him about it. I know a few small engines teachers who do “customer” engines. If he just teaches automotive classes, replacing a generator carb really wouldn’t fit into the curriculum.

Still on my list of scooters I would want someday...pity there are no dealers here :(

There really aren’t a lot of scooters to choose from here, sadly...

I thought about you when one popped up about 100 miles away last month. It was black 2015 with 800 miles, for the steal of a price of $800. I wanted to pick it up for my wife, but it was gone before I could get there.

Honestly, I have no idea where a dealer is around here, but I’m finding it super easy to work on. Between the manual, which is really good, and YouTube, I wouldn’t worry about having a dealer.

If I could find somewhere to import one from, I would!

My second choice would be a Piaggio Fly or a Vespa LX series, but Piaggios and Vespas are very expensive here, sadly...

Well, let me know when you’ve got the money for that, and I’ll keep my eyes peeled :)
