It is coming this week! Mine will be black, but I am excited. I order new crash bars next.

My shoulder is almost completely recovered, but my wife admits she doesn’t want me back on the Vespa. What do I do to convince her?

Tell her she should get one and come riding with you so she can look after you.

Bonus: sneaky way to increase your couples alone time.

I’m married, but I have no advice. My wife decided after we married that she would worry too much if I rode. I chose to worry her less with other hobbies.

Maybe take a riding class of some sort? Seat time plus you will likely learn a thing or two. Treat it like those driving classes that wipe a couple points from your license except these are wife disapproval points. She may feel better if she thinks your all about the safety.

p.s. this wouldn’t work on my wife.

Maybe nibble at it- short rides around the neighborhood at low speeds, then work your way up you longer trips at higher speeds?

This method usually works with mine. And, it goes without saying that you need to know what time is the best time to ask -

She loves you BECAUSE you ride scooters - yes, she is going to worry, I guarantee she worries about other stuff too. Be the awesome, scooter riding, Sunchaser driving husband she married. Or... just don’t tell her and do it anyways - that works for me sometimes too.

It makes you happy and a happy you makes a better husband.

She’s still worried? Is she good at math? Tell her the chances of another accident are significantly decreased - you’ve reached your crash quota. If she says “mutually exclusive events” etc. etc.....I got nothing.

I can’t really say, my own window of crazy things narrowed considerable with kids..

that being said I wouldn’t push it- keep getting your Vespa ready and show her how much you enjoy it. Get an new helmet and all the safety gear, make it a top priority and show her you are serious aboutbeing safe while riding it. Let her come around.

Take her on a nice romantic weekend getaway to a cabin in the woods. Cook her favorite dinner, pour two glasses of wine, and start a fire.

Then sneak away, get your newly unmuffled scooter, and do some wheelies and burnouts in front of her. Preferably while holding a single rose in your teeth.

This didn’t work for me. Tried to get my wife on a motorcycle. She countered with a baby. Now neither of us has a motorcycle.

No regrets, really. Funny how that worked out.

Maybe some additional safety gear would ease her mind? Like an armored riding jacket?

I had one and she was scared because I didn’t have the actual motorcycle endorsement on my drivers license. 2 years ago I got another bike and we went for another trial ride and she enjoyed herself.

She isn’t ready for her own yet, but I’ll get her one when she wants one. Kids are more important. If I had to give mine up I would, it doesn’t change my life, but is fun.

My wife absolutely hates that I ride motorcycles, but I have been for most of our fifteen year relationship. Beats chasing tail (that’s not the argument I’d make).

Well that sounds like a tough one. Maybe a nice dinner out and a little date night with some nice calm discussion and such.

Through in a gift of something she would cherish also ie: jewelry, art, etc.

Whenever I do a thing that scares Miss Tesla, I make a tangible promise (like checking in regularly) and then upon my return, I shower her with lovely things. It doesn’t always work, but it helps.
