Kinja'd!!!

Painted the grills black. The were the only chrome in the car, and therefore dumb. Simple and easy, I like it way better.

I got black ones for my ZHP a few months ago, the OE ones clips had broken and they kept half falling out. Looks so much better. Until like 3 weeks later and it somehow got white paint on it. Thankfully I was able to buff it out.

Thanks! My clear coat needs some practice but I’m happy with it.

I didn’t realize how much less pronounced the nose would be. Totally worth it.

I wish OEMs would do that with window trims etc. I fucking hate cars that have no chrome anywhere and then they have chrome handles and window surrounds. It makes no sense. Just make it black. Or at the very least black chrome.

That’s what the shadowline option is for.

On my screen, in the ‘recent from..’ section, I’m seeing the same angle shot of your car, but pre-paint. Side by side comparison - love the new look!

All cars need that option

What’s dumb is mine is shadow line. All the other trim is factory black but not the grills.

A set of blacklines would be nice. I’m still back and forth on a decent budget front lip or an oil catch can. And i need good tires. And a second job lol

Maybe I’ll actually get around to painting my slats black sometime. I want to keep the borders chrome, since my wheels have a little bling to them being “hyper silver” which as far as I can tell means “mildly shinier than usual silver.”

I got a set of firestone firehawk Indy 500's for a set of 219m’s for my 335i for like $420 shipped. Been great so far, I have yet to break traction yet.

Do some more research on the oil catch can, may not be that helpful. An intercooler on the other hand...

Yea idk about the can yet. I do get occasional oil residue on the blown off valve trumpet, not sure how much the can will help at this point. I pick cleaned my valves not to long ago and they were pretty terrible.

Personal experience, I have an oil catch can, maybe catches half a cup-full in about 20k km of driving. But when I upgraded my charge-pipe and intercooler, they both had a lot of oil residue in them. I now have the upgraded PCV valve as well, not sure if that will make a huge difference.

In terms of tyres, Michelin Pilot Super Sports are obviously the best choice, but quite expensive. I also went with the Australian version of the Firehawks (Bridgestone Re003 in Australia).

Have you got MHD yet? that’s a very easy and rewarding modification

I’m not familiar with the upgraded pcv or mhd? Which is surprising since I skim the forums pretty much daily?

When I did the charge pipe, there was a good amount of pooled oil in the lower pipe. I cleaned it out, but started finding residue on the bottom coupling, but thats gone now too.

there is a PCV aftermarket by RB which has dubious benefits. MHD is a tuning program run off android phones, been around for a while now.

Ah ok. I found the pcv thread on n54 tech and I’m reading through it today. I’m running a jb4 but I’ll look into the mhd as well. It’s been long enough I need a good oil change and would like to do the occ or pcv overall at the same time. I’m at 60k and ide like to keep this thing as healthy as possible.

I need to do my valves soon.. walnut blasting looks straightforward but not sure I wanna try it on my own. Did you notice any immediate benefits after cleaning the valves?

I feel like it ran better, and i hit 14psi on my JB4 tune 5 more consistently. it sounded healthier as well. The valves were bad enough I had stalactites. the openings looked like a cave entrance lol. I just used a solvent and picks and got them pretty good, going to go back and be more thorough soon.

I’ve heard ppl say you can mess up the walnut blasting, but i also decided to just save the money and not buy the kit. It doesn’t look terribly hard though.

How difficult was it using the method you used? A local shop runs a group buy for around $299 or $249 every few months, might check to see the next time that happens.

I would pay that I think. It was several hours of work, not the most fun thing I’ve ever done lol. I was quoted 700 and said f that

Jeeze that’s almost stealership pricing. Took my e92 in for the airbag recall and they were trying to talk me into all these different services. Ended up with a $49 oil change so I’m not too mad about that.
