E39s in my area tend to be driven by well-to-do middle aged women so I guess i don’t see where you’re coming from.

Now that the E30 is a classic it’s escaped from the douchery. It’s the E36/E46 that are causing the bad image.

I think it’s the tint and the bad paint job on the rims that the PO did that makes me feel like a douche? I see mostly younger guys driving e39s around me. I love it either way, I’m really hoping to get my chain tensioner on tonight and see if that makes my P0011 code go away or if I have to tear it open, or pay my mechanic to tear it open.

Mine could very easily pass for stock. The only mod I have is some facelifted clear taillights, and that’s something only a fellow enthusiast would pick up on. To anyone else my car is untouched.

I actually prefer the pre facelift tail lights. I’ve thought about getting angel eyes for the front, but probably wont. Same with an M-sport bumper. I’ve grown to like having the tints, and I do like the gunmetal grey rims with the Alpineweiss paint, they just look like shit up close. Lot’s of runs. I also don’t have a rear resonator, so its a little louder than a standard 540i.

Mine came with angel eyes that the PO presumably wired in himself. I ripped them out the moment they started working intermittently and staying on when the car was off:

I’m indifferent to the amber tails (which came in the trunk of the car when I bought it) but the facelift lights definitely make the car look a good five years newer. My plan is to just keep the originals as spares in case I ever bust one.
