Need opinions on project "DE-RICE" my wheels!

Just picked up a set of expensive ass wheels (Forgeline VR1) for my car that someone went through quite a bit of trouble to make ugly as hell!

The wheels were originally polished aluminum

I just picked them up looking like this

I am debating either bringing them back to their original polished look or maybe having them powdercoated something more tasteful?

Here is my car/current setup

Perhaps thinking of doing some sort of brass monkey or bronze color which always seems to go well with red like this.

 Any other opinions/ideas that would pop?

You should bolt those puppies on as is and take a picture ... for science. Hell, just do one side.

Idk I would just powdercoat them black or gun metal. Idk if gold would work because you have grey stripes. I think your current wheels look better to be honest. I wouldn’t do the polished look because it’s too similar to what you already have.

Eh, no bronze. Looks ok on a Ferrari, but would look weird on the Viper I think. I’d say all black or maybe a brushed aluminum.

I like an unpolished bright silver the best, but I think gold would look sweet too. I’d strip em’ and throw one side on and see what you think.

You could have them sandblasted and re-polished.

If you do gold then I would have the lips mirror polished. Gold + polished lips is better than straight up gold.

But...I don’t know if I would mix gold wheels with a silver/grey racing stripe.

A dark powdercoat would look pretty cool on those

Kinda like the finish Matt Farah had on his Corvette’s wheels

I’d go with a darker bronze color than the on in the Ferrari, I think it will match nicely with the silver stripes. But seriously, as long as it isn’t chrome or black (either matte or glossy) it should look good

Yeah see this is my dilemna! If the car didn’t have the silver stripes I would do something similar to my old car!

I’d say whatever closest matches the stripe. Black wouldn’t look right to me, neither would gold/bronze. I don’t even think something like gunmetal would work because of the stripe. I think matching the stripe is the best option, IMHO.

Yeah I agree with the Gold mixing with the silver. I’m still keeping the stock BBS ACR wheels for track but they look tiny on the car by today’s standards and don’t fill the wheel well at all!

Gahhh as boring as it is I feel like silver/polished wheels is going to match this damn stripe the best. I want to do something unique and different but feel like it might clash with this damn stripe!

Black Chrome all day. Thought they don’t look that bad honestly. Or polished with 1 spoke color matched red might look cool.

That looks pretty damn good too! Subtle but won’t clash. I still would like to make something that POPS but wont look tacky or clash with that damn silver!

His video on them shows you some more angles, I think if the color looks good on a red Vette from the same era it would be a pretty good bet that it would also look good on the Viper

I got it!! Black inner with polished lip looks mean and classic at the same time and will tie in nicely with stripe.

That red grabs my eyes before anything else. I don’t think clashing the wheels with the stripe is a big deal.
