Kinja'd!!!

The new Commodore is the same as the new Regal apart from the badges. It was also rumoured that there would be a twin turbo V6 variant of the new Commodore, which would be the new HSV Commodore. New Grand National/GNX anyone? Or it could just be the new Regal GS. It could also be the new Insignia OPC/VXR.

Kinja'd!!!

PS: That is a damn good looking car.

No, it isn’t. You’re not supposed to have that many drinks before lunch. :P

If I trusted anyone to make a bonkers version of a Buick sedan, it would be the Australians.

And yes, that’s a handsome car.

I seem to have entirely missed that. Guess that solidifies it.

I’m not so sure it will. So all Regal production is going to be in Europe. There are no European or Chinese engine plants that build the HF V6. For the previous Holden they built the HFV6 in Austrailia.

According to “insiders” a twin turbo V6 (most likely the 400hp 3.0 twin turbo in the CT6) was initially planned but they later discovered they couldn’t get it to fit in RHD applications because of conflicts with the steering hardware, so they had to stay with the NA V6. They also couldn’t get the manual to work with the V6 either. Unfortunately GM US did not account for those configurations when initially designing the platform.
Since Vauxhaul and Holden were the primary markets for the high performance model, they just decided to can everything. The NA V6 with 310hp is confirmed for Buick and Holden. Not sure yet about Europe.

Still, 310 HP is a good bit up on the old Regal GS/Insignia OPC/VXR.

The GS yes, since it only had the 260hp 2.0T. However the OPC/VXR had a 2.8L turbo V6 with 325hp/320tq. The NA V6 with 310hp/270tq is a downgrade there. Even worse if Europe ends up not getting the V6.

Commodore to get V6 but NOT twin turbo

reason being given Turbos and piping doesn’t fit

I don’t believe for a second they’ll offer an NA V6 in Europe. That’s too old school. It’ll have a turbo or it won’t be available.

Well here is the Chinese Regal GS sedan. The US version will most likely look like this in hatchback form.
