On a random note, being from Oz, do you have any experience with these? I’m just genuinely curious, being Chinese, how terrible (or decent?) they are...? Aside from Russia and some of the Eastern Bloc countries, Oz is the only first-world country I can recall with a Chinese manufacturer in the mainstream.

(Although I guess Europe will supposedly be getting Qoros soon? I can’t remember any other manufacturers off-hand).

they’re not bad as such, just not great.

earlier ones i’ve heard stories from dealers of cars having no wiring down the left hand side. only discovered when going to plug in tower wiring.

earlier ones also discovered to contain asbestos in them, a banned substance in Australia

the quality of materials used inside them is poor

had a couple come through work, after 100k km they were knackered

recently had a Foton Tunland too, it too was knackered by 100k km, on it’s second front diff/front tail shaft.

Knackered by 100k km? That’s just terrible...my base-model 2009 Accent is at 116,000km and still going strong, just some worn suspension bushings and a few interior rattles every so often.

my rolling deathtrap (2004 Lancer with 643k km) has better build quality than the cheaper Chinese cars.
