Just yesterday, I decided to not buy a 45 of “Centerfold” at Goodwill because it’s not really worth anything. I left the store, got in my car, and the first thing I heard on the radio was the news of his death. It was surreal.
I went back into the store to buy the record anyway, but someone else must have picked it up after I put it back the first time.

He was 71? Holy shit, that makes me feel old. I remember when Centerfold came out. I sat at my tape deck (!!) and transcribed the lyrics.

That tour was my first show. I was in 7th grade and my older brothers took me. Warped me for life. When I heard his age it made me feel really old too.

Damn we’re old. I was in college when he became very popular. Freeze Frame and Centerfold remind me of Houston. Was just getting married and moved there, local radio stations played those almost too much back then.

The first time I’ve heard anything J. Geils, I was watching an episode of VH1's Pop-Up Video, Centerfold played.. Song got me from the get-go.. hooked from then on.. then I heard Freeze Frame for the first time.. then I saw the actual J. Geils in a R&T magazine (IIRC) where he tested car stereos.. I wondered how loud he put on Centerfold to listen to all the featured stereos. I think Lexus’ Mark Levinson system won that competition

lol, may be old but just 10 yrs ago I did my fastest century ride. Cycled 106 miles in 5 1/2 hours including lunch and pee breaks. Not bad for an old dude. Getting back into cycling this summer. Knee issues sidelined me from doing the 100+ rides.
