Kinja'd!!!

My vote: the Aston Martin Lagonda. I’m not sure if there are any still moving under their own power.

If I got to sit in this interior, I wouldn’t even slightly care if the car didn’t move. I’d still be in heaven. It’s without question my favorite car interior of all time.

Oh how I loath!!!! Lagondas and Esprit!

Actual hatred in its purist form.

When either pulls into the service department... dude, any positivity and happiness is out the flippin window

We’ll get one or maybe two a year and they stay here for no less than 6 months each time. Out latest has been here since October for a no start issue that no independent shop can solve (as usual). I called Aston for a wiring schematic, a month later we get a table of context and some other paper work but no wiring schematic because they don’t have one.... at Aston HQ! Zero parts pretty much and any technical information is pretty much non existent. A flippin nightmare of electrical issue on this current car that was fixed-ish. The customer has since sold it. Here in parts, independent “specialists, LOL!” shops call in for thing on these monthly. Unless they want to wait 3 months for Aston to maybe find a broke to manufacture the part, the car will remain a brick. The answer usually comes back as a big fat NO from Aston.

Something fairly modern from a manufacturer that’s completely unwilling to share any service documents or software outside their official dealers. Maybe a V10 Toureg built for some small market area with a long list of small issues?

Phaeton W12, because “we’re gonna have to pull the engine for that...”

Any Mercedes-Benz with ABC and failure prone turbo chargers, the SL being the worst because “we’re gonna have to pull the engine for that...”

An Audi 2.7T anything.

A Passat W8, because that missfire means you need a new engine block.

These just being common examples. Obviously, Lagondas and Leyland V12s are the real nightmares that are just un-ownable.

Mine is Mocha black with the Designo saddle interior and those wheels. Perfect W220 S600 IMO.

Kinja'd!!! "fintail" (fintail)
04/11/2017 at 21:06, STARS: 0

Was that a designo paint color as well?

Back in 2005 I looked at a horizon blue on beige (I think) car, 2001, I forget if it was S430 or S500. It also had 5 spoke AMG wheels. I got close to going for it, but it sold (!) before I could do anything. Probably for the best - the C43 I bought instead cost half as much and probably was 1/10th as expensive to run.

04/11/2017 at 22:59, STARS: 0

Yeah. This car is one of about 30 like it for 2004. This is from a time when Designo actually meant something. The full Designo spec was something like $14-15,000 in 2004.

Kinja'd!!! "fintail" (fintail)
04/11/2017 at 23:38, STARS: 0

Yep, different world. Designo costs just a few grand today, I think, and is a lot more common.

Kind of like pre-2003 AMG cars. Volume won.

Kinja'd!!! "V12 Jake- Hittin' Switches" (jbv12)
04/12/2017 at 00:23, STARS: 0

Yeah, it’s really a shame. That being said, there’s now much less difference between the equipment on a S550 vs an S600.

Kinja'd!!! "fintail" (fintail)
04/12/2017 at 09:25, STARS: 0

I think today that difference is just a few surfaces and standard features, and the engine. I think there are very few exterior differences unless one chooses the Maybach barge.

Kinja'd!!! "V12 Jake- Hittin' Switches" (jbv12)
04/12/2017 at 09:56, STARS: 0

No. The only differences between the 600 & 550 exterior wise is that the V12 gets split grille spokes, and that the 600 is only available with the sport appearance package, whereas it’s optional on the 550.

Kinja'd!!! "fintail" (fintail)
04/12/2017 at 10:45, STARS: 0
