They are constantly showing me ads for things I already bought. The shit gets annoying. I’m too lazy/don’t care enough to install an ad blocker though.

Kinja'd!!!

So yeah, I bought an electric mower yesterday. Review to come. Dang that thing is quiet!

I got my old clunker running again last week. An oil change (seriously needed), some seafoam and fresh gas and it fires right up...with a LOT of smoke. I know seafoam smokes but seriously, I thought I had fried my rings. I hate that thing, but I don’t hate the price.

I’m curious about how well a cordless electric lawn mower holds up. I know the batteries for electric weed eater never seems to have enough juice.

Also too lazy to install an ad blocker.

Currently being inundated with ads for hotels in So Cal. Where we went on vacation 2 weeks ago.

They’re wasting their money here...

Ours crapped out after a few years. It was great until the battery stopped holding a charge.

My old free gas mower needs a valve job. By the end of last season it could barely run well enough to cut the grass.

I’m tired of sucking small engine fumes in. I’ve become really sensitive to those, to diesel exhaust, and the the odor of oil-based wood stain. They give me massive headaches. It’s really annoying.

I’ll probably end up selling my gas trimmer and going electric there too. I need to keep my gas leaf blower though. I use that and extension tubes to clean my gutters from the ground.

I’ve always been curious about those. Even if they feel a little like blasphemy since my Grandfather ran a small engine repair shop out of his garage for decades.

I sprung for the best rated and reviewed one. It had plenty of juice for my modest sized lawn. I’m curious to see how well it holds up over time.

Yesterday, I bought several thousand dollars in plane tickets for a conference in a month. Received an e-mail today from the airline notifying me that they had several deals on flights to the destination I just purchased tickets to and would I like to purchase a ticket? They weren’t even cheaper.

Ha! Yeah, I can see that. I’ve been curious for a while, but they’ve been around long enough that I decided to take a shot at it.

Incidentally, it’s a conference on artificial intelligence. Somewhere is a poor computer working very hard, which is proud to use its intelligence to bring me this relevant content. My field clearly needs some work...

As long as it has enough battery life it should work great.

How long does the battery last? It takes me about two hours to do the front and back. A friend has an electric mower and says hes lucky to get 40 minutes out of a battery.

I exclusively get ads for Triumph Scramblers/Bonnevilles and Yamaha SR400's.

There’s a Scrambler that’s $4,700 across the country that’s tempting as hell.

Full disclosure, I have no idea if the Looj actually works. It’s barely been updated over its life, which I assume means it is either really good, or so bad it isn’t worth putting new effort into, though given the massive strides iRobot has made with its vacuums, I feel later seems more likely.

I don’t expect it to happen under the current administration, but at some point new 2 stroke lawn tools are going to be banned, they just kick out way too much pollution. Will be interesting to see if they get replaced mostly by electrics or by four stroke engines. Guess two stroke mowers are pretty scarce already, but so many other garden tools that will need to make the transition.

Yeah I thought that that was bloody stupid. Now I know I’m exceptional in that I tend to buy multiple rusty Spitfires, but any other sane person is not going to immediately buy something they’ve literally just bought.

What they might just want is parts and accessories related to the thing they’ve just bought...

The one I got has about 45 minutes of run time, which is plenty for my lawn.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a two stroke mower. My dad had one when I was growing up, but it’s long gone. I don’t think I’ve seen one since.

My local Stihl dealer mostly sells to professionals, and they mostly sell four strokes already. I think those who need that kind of power and run time will all go four-stroke. Those of us with the 1/4 acre or less suburban lot will mostly end up electric.

04/11/2017 at 07:20, STARS: 1

Mine is rated for 45 minutes, which is plenty for me. There was a bigger battery available to get up to an hour of run time. If you’re yard is that big you’d need two batteries, and they are not cheap. You’re probably better off sticking with gas.

I’ve owned it for a couple years. This will be my third season with it. Works well for me. Plenty of power. Battery lasts me about 30 minutes of cutting and then I use the same battery with their trimmer and at the end -there’s always power left. My yard is small though. I like the trimmer too. Best part is the battery only takes about 20 minutes to charge fully. So I plug in the battery, pick up the sticks from the yard, crack open a beer, and the battery is charged.

If you run Google you can install DuckDuckGo. It does a good job of stopping most tracking and ads like those pretty much stop. The best thing is I’m getting more direct searches and things haven’t slowed that I can tell.

Yeah, you’re gonna want to stick with gas for sure then. Laughably I had a rider for three or four years. I sure didn’t need it, but it was given to me for free, so I used it. I ended up selling it and buying my wife a nice camera. I needed the exercise anyways.

No problem. I’m not sure if its totally eliminated tracking but ads have changed to less annoying and fewer as well as other benefits. Since it just an extension to Google it can easily be disabled or deleted if you don’t like it. It also works with Firefox and Safari browsers.
