So you actually do have one working car.

That’s one of Tamiya’s coolest rigs - looks like it’s set up with a Futaba radio and speed controller unit? I worked at a toy store for a couple years in college and sold some of those...

just barely ‘80s... First released in ‘89... 10(?) year production run, re-released in 2013.

nah that’s just the receiver, it’s missing the speed control.

pretty influential design. They re-released the Egress in 2013. Still a nice 4wD buggy, but compared to modern stuff its a little clunky.

I ought to get some electronics for my 8th scale buggy.

It’s amazing how far R/C cars have come since this era. Modern lipo batteries, digital radios, brushless motors, ESCs, and ridiculously fast/accurate high-torque servos. Not to mention the chassis designs and durability...

Is Tamiya even building racing models anymore?

or do what my friend did and slap 1/8th scale electronics in a 1/10th scale short course truck

But the 8th scale is a much better chassis
