Do you even use the turbo? My NA 1.6 only gets 30 mpg.

non-ethanol fuel. It makes a difference. Also, I did drive exceptionally “reasonably” today. Still ;)

Where are you getting your non-ethanol fuel from?

What is your commute like? My commute is mixed, and partial interstate, and I get like 28.

Co-Co’s Fleet pumps on Industrial Ave, Williston and Kimbal Ave in So. Burl both have non-ethanol super.

so that was from 120 miles on secondary highway, but after 30 minutes in rush-hour city traffic I’m still at 39.5 overall average. My suburban/city 6-mile, 1/2 hour commute averages 30ish in the winter and 35ish in summer.

I got 150 miles on my last tank....I think I win.

Maybe I should go investigate. I only drive ~100 mi a month while I am here at school and letting the ethanol stuff sit like that isn’t the greatest thing ever.

Wow, I did not expect to see a high MPG number. Figured warmer weather meant people in cold regions would finally get to flog it and drop their MPG.

Recent track day gave me 9.8 mpg

Damn, thats like 10 mpg (assuming Outback/STI).

STI...It was like 13mpgs I didn’t drain the tank......I blame the cold weather......and my love of oversteer. Outback gets much better 16mpgs...around town...with oversteer.....the thick wet snow we had last week didn’t help....even broke a CV shaft in the outback that was fun this weekend.

Yeah, I can hit over 40(or could, pre-teen) driving 45, but the second I hit the interstate it goes down.

True fact. The FieSTa is NOT aerodynamic. High speeds hurt, due to drag. If its flat I can just about eke out 35mpg at 65mph, 75? 32. Hilly? 32ish. 85? <30.

Eh, I don’t think it’s that, it’s gearing. At 70, the turbo is pretty much spooled, killing mileage.

that 1.6 has electronic boost control, vvt, and di. there’s no reason it HAS to get poor economy just because the turbo is spooled up. it can dump boost with the waste gate, phase the valves and run lean. I can confirm, also, through experimentation, that the car gets BETTER fuel economy at 3200 RPM in 3rd gear (about 40mph) than it does in 6th at the same RPM. also:

Drag Coefficient 0.32, Est

that firmly ranks as “meh”.

Nice! How do you like your FiST? How long have you had it?
