One of my friends at work ran out of the office Friday afternoon to take a look at this Suzuki that popped up for $3000CAD.
I got a text 10 minutes later that he was driving it home;
1980 LJ81, 800cc of fury..
This one was a local guy who collects them, and is the president of the local ‘zuki club. He did a few things to it then found one another to play with.
Plans are to keep it pretty close to stock and daily it. Somewhere in the past someone patched the floorpans roughly and it needs to be redone properly.
His other truck is a 2016 PowerWagon (in the background) so there isn’t much overlap.
I love the drop sides on the box..

His other project is a 95 Sidekick with an tdi in it.. Plus he fabs out of his shop and builds plate bumpers for them..
He’s a good friend to know, and has already made some neato little things for me. ‘Be a welder, or know a welder’ as my Grandpa used to say.

Here is a Jimny between an 80 and 100 series, the LJ81 is about the same size.
2375mm = 2.3m = ~7 1/2 ft

Sold here, LHD, not a JDM import - although those are here too..
Just not many survived. The seller had two more basket cases, but I would hazard a guess that there are probably less than a dozen local trucks in western Canada.

That little thing is amazing! This is the kind of truck I want to see on the roads! I respect big American trucks for their capability....but very few people actually use them much for their intended purpose.
Little utilitarian workhorses like this are the kind of rides I love! :)
