We seem to talk quite a bit about cars that look better in person that in photos. How about the other way around?
I saw one of these the other day
Mercedes GLE 63 S AMG
My first reaction was just...ew.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Some how it looks much worse in person than in the photos (not that it looked particularly good in the photos to begin with).
What other cars look worse in person?
Edit: I hate you Kinja...why does everything look perfect before I post anything, then nothing works once it is.

I will...not. It’s all a matter of opinion with style anyways. I thought it was ugly. The proportions are just all weird. In the photos it looks much smaller than it actually is, it looks like some sedan/coupe with gigantism.

+1 on the suv coupe hating. I want to barf every time I see one of those or an x6. Both look like giant lumbering dogs with no sense of purpose or style. Just a symbol for “People’s opinion of me matter more than common sense”

For me the CLA range looks good on photo, but in person they somehow remind me of a really small guy with a large head. It’s not very proportional.

In the past two months, I’ve seen at least three, but as many as five Model Xs (like all Teslas, they’re so characterless that they’re indistinguishable from one another), and, man. I know “horses for courses” and all that, but for a car that starts at $85k, they are fantastically ugly and cheap looking.

Meh, I used to like the Model S, but in retrospect I think that was due to its relative rarity. It’s a bit plain to my tastes, but elegant nonetheless.
The Model X just looks like a suppository on wheels.

I’m all for ridiculous vehicles but these rub me the wrong way because they take what is a totally normal, practical vehicle and chop the back off for no benefit other than “it looks swoopy.” It’s not ridiculous enough to be enjoyed for the sake of being ridiculous. It’s the same basic vehicle but with worse rear visibility, cargo capacity, and headroom.

I think the GLE Coupe looks great in person. Here is a GLE43 Coupe on my lot. The width of the rear tires is nuts like a toy. Also a pic next to a standard GLE and GLA.

Really, I think they look insane in person, but in a good way. I would love one of those to navigate the bombed out streets of construction filled SF these days. Maybe not in that color. I actually didn’t think much of them until I saw one in person, they are menacing and the AMG is nuts, love them in person.
