Mine would have to be the pool table that the previous owners left at our house. I don’t know how much it weighs exactly, but the slate slabs alone have to be a few hundred pounds.

Probably my mattress? My couch would be heavier, but it is two pieces, so I don’t think it counts as a single “thing”?

Probably that damn fold-out couch Mrs McMike had before we got married.

Oh man, I had one when I lived in an apartment before I got married. That thing was a bitch to move.

Mattress, probably. Maybe my dining room table. If you were going for highest mass per volume, it’s my wedding ring. If you’re going for the philosophical, the weight of responsibility (adulting).

I bet that 50+ years ago the answers would have been mostly, “piano”.

I don’t own a lot of things because I rent. My first thought was probably my refrigerator, but I don’t “own” that...

Besides my car, I don’t own very many heavy things. Used to have an upright piano, which easily would have been the heaviest, but I don’t have it anymore.

I would guess that the heaviest thing that I own is my aquarium. It’s only ten gallons but I’d bet its about 100 lbs. when full.

Does a 650 cc diesel engine count? I bought it to build a vehicle around it, and that never happened, but it’s really meant as a generator engine.

If it doesn’t count... it’s probably my bed.

That’s a tough one. We have a couple large pieces of furniture. One buffet built in the 1940's and a kitchen cabinet set that was built in my great-grandfather’s furniture factory in Fulda, Germany in the 1920's. Both of those are from back before built-in kitchen cabinet sets were a thing, and as such they are designed to be the majority of the storage for the kitchen. They’re bloody enormous, probably 800lbs each.

I now own TWO of those bastards. Thank God that one is a spinet and one is a console. We had a full upright which was lost when our house burned down. That one was nearly impossible to move. The sound board still sits at my mom’s property. I have to figure out how I’m going to get rid of it when we clean out her house.

Almost certainly the victorian guillotine. Made of cast Iron and we estimate it weighs around 500Kg, probably more. It’s been stuck in the back of the workshop in pieces waiting to be restored for the past five years. Photo is of it in place in a garden shed, I had to dismantle it with the son of the guy who owned it and we lifted it in to my Transit connect by hand.

I have a gun safe that is likely 300lbs+.

It came with a doll slot at the bottom which the manufacturer told me to remove. I went against that as moving this thing isn’t easy.

My mom was worried once that a door which led to the alley behind my house was the best place for folks to break in, so I pushed the safe in front of the door when she lived in my house while I was in Africa.

Our upright burned in a house fire. The plate (harp) is too heavy to move anywhere, but doesn’t have enough scrap value for someone to come get it. I may have to drag it into the woods where it can spend the hundred years turning back into rust.

the tool box. i had bought a while back, someones massive roll around shop toolbox, that is basically 4 old style medium height rolly toolboxes built into an angle iron single frame, and then capped with a sheet of steel, with decent size casters under it. has a good pipe vice on it, and a regular vice on it. and it has the lock down bars to keep any of the doors from opening. thing is basically a nice size workstation. i have it weighted down with tools. and cylinder heads. i keep it chained to the carport, so that it doesnt blow away in the wind.......

Yes, and as someone who has recently moved all of his worldy belongings twice from one house into storage and then back to another, I can definitely verify that our Piano is by far the heaviest thing we own. In fact it’s still at my parents house now because after moving it into our old house, selling that house a month later, moving it to my parent’s house, then buying the new house and moving everything else we own out of storage and into the new house... I just don’t have the will to move that piano again just yet. I’ll probably have to suck it up and get it done soon though, I’ve been getting some not so subtle hints from my parents about it.

Ok, I said Piano before but I forgot about that giant steel cabinet I have in my garage. It’s an old all steel card catalog cabinet that came off a Navy ship, that I now use for storage of miscelanious garage stuff. I don’t have the ability to weigh both of them but it’s gotta be close. Although with the cabinet I can remove the 20 drawers before moving it which makes moving it possible, but with the drawers installed (and full of random crap)it’s probably easily heavier than the piano.
