I love the Honda Ridgeline. There. I said it. It’s practical, it has some really cool features, it should be pretty reliable. And it does most of the stuff most people realistically ever use trucks for. My brain is telling me to get one, even though my heart tells me to get something bigger.

Kinja'd!!!

And now, a “real” truck for your time.

Yup. For most people it’s the truck they need, with the comfort of a minivan.

I just want someone to make coilovers and alignment kits for it so it could be lowered to car height and be a Ute :)

I wouldn’t buy one as my personal DD, but would certainly consider one for the family hauler of it were in the budget.

I keep telling my dad to get one even though we totally don’t need one. To be honest, we carry six-seven people on a regular basis in our Odyssey so we really chose the best Honda utility vehicle for us, but since my dad and I scuba dive the watertight bed trunk is really, really enticing. Dump your salty gear in there, fill it up with water, drive home. (Ok, maybe not drive home, but at least you get a rear “porch” to clean up your shit instead of dirtying the beige load bay of the minivan.)

Yup, for most of the people that buy a truck, a Ridgeline would fit the bill just perfectly. It’s still too much truck for my purposes though. I still want a small truck. Think Mitsubishi Might Max/Nissan Hardbody/Mazda B Series size.

I was somewhat in the same debate. ended up with a silverado for the same amount of money spent.

the only drawback i see is harder to park in tighter spot, and maybe 1 mpg ?

IMHO its the FWD coupe of trucks. Why would you not just get the Pilot it based on?

Because you don’t want to throw dirty, messy, or smelly stuff into the back of your $40k SUV. But that comes back to how you’re going to use it. If you’re mostly throwing groceries or other dry, clean items in the back, then the Pilot is the way to go.

The Pilot is nice, but I need a truck for hauling large or bulky items like mulch, a tiller, etc. I work out of state so I do a lot of driving (500 miles per week, minimum) so I’d like some fuel economy too.

In the end I’ll probably just keep my Camry as a road warrior and buy a dually for my truck needs even though I will probably never use but 30% of its capability.

Ah okay well my fault. Just used to the daily sight of trucks hauling air. But yea I’m sure the Ridgeline would be a great road tripper.
