I had some difficult developing an appreciation for that episode, particularly the nonsense with all of the waffles.

Waffles were the actual challenge, put out by the LeMons Rally organizers. We had to stop at six Waffle Houses along I-40 and buy at least two waffles from each. I suspect the waffle fight they had was a combination of exhaustion and boredom (I-40 SUX).

I will say I got disappointed with how light they got on talking about the rally and the checkpoints after midway through the second day. I know time constraints and all, but still.

I realized that buying some waffles was a step in the process and I got that, but even by Roadkill standards, that episode was sophomoric and pointless.

I’ve driven from the Pacific to the Atlantic and back three times in the past ten years and I found I-40 to be by far the best road , but maybe not the most interesting. First time across, we drove I-50 well into Kansas. 50 across Nevada was fun.

Yeah, I definitely get what you’re saying. If they’d stuck more to the events of the rally and less to being goofy I think it would have been a much better show.

I should’ve specified. After spending a day on the (incredible) backroads of West Virginia and starting the morning on the Tail of the Dragon I-40 across the full width of Tennessee (stopping only for gas, pee, and waffles) sux. I’ve done the coast-to-coast run on 40, 50, 70, 80, and 90, and I agree, 40 is one of the best if not the best, but the good stuff is mostly once you’re west Amarillo.
