These have been popping up near me lately. I’ve considered parking my Miata in one, but I can just see some eco-nutjob vandalizing it and then I’d probably end up in jail one way or another...

The bank where Omaha has Cars & Coffee has several of these signs, so of course we regularly fill them up with 488s, Aventadors, and Vipers.

My parking garage at work has non-charger spaces on the first floor reserved for hybrids and electric cars, but rather nicely, it’s only reserved between 6–10 AM.

This, however, is just stupid. This shit with shopping malls and stores reserving spots for cars other than handicap tags is getting out of hand.

Had these on Fort Riley. Usually were occupied by a brodozer

Whoever puts these up should be dragged from their bed at night and hanged - I mean, protect the environment, think of the children!

I suppose I could park the fintail there, it does emit and consume less than say a 58 Buick or a tank.

Also, you were kidding about shopping malls. That looks like pretty much every more upscale shopping mall in New Jersey.

Despite maxing out at 24mpg my Subaru has a “partial zero emissions vehicle” badge, does that mean I’m eligible?

My civic had a “low emissions vehicle” sticker on the window so I used them!

Anytime I see those spaces, I park in them no matter what I’m driving. I’m all for better mpgs and lower emissions, but fuck that bullshit.

Does my Rover count it gets like 30 MPG. although it pollutes more than a coal power plant.

Compared to the space shuttle

Edit: The Space shuttle actually gets 8.3 MPG.

Those spots give the business LEED credits, which in some areas are required, in other areas there’s various rewards (like tax credits) for complying.

In any case, per the US Green Building Council:

For the purposes of this credit, low-emitting vehicles are defined as vehicles that are classified as Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) by the California Air Resources Board. Fuel-efficient vehicles are defined as vehicles that have achieved a minimum green score of 40 on the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) annual vehicle rating guide.

Here’s the list (the Excel link below): http://www.greenercars.org/news/list-leed-qualified-cars

Note that TDIs were removed from the list due to cheating.

There are cars going back to 1998 on the list, although the MY1998 models consist of the RAV4 EV, the Civic GX, the NiMH-equipped EV1, and the S10 EV.

None of the 2.0T Passats are on the list, but the 2012-2014 2.5, the 2014-2017 1.8T, and the 2016-2017 3.6 are all on the list. Yes, the 3.6.

LEED doesn’t consider it - or any pre-2011 Subaru - to be a sufficiently green vehicle.

Kinja'd!!! "GE90man" (ge90man)
04/09/2017 at 19:12, STARS: 1

huh, i’m pretty sure the people parking there or putting those sings up don’t really care about LEED or have even heard of it

Kinja'd!!! "bhtooefr" (bhtooefr)
04/09/2017 at 19:19, STARS: 1

The people putting those signs up are specifically doing it to get LEED credits.

AFAIK, there’s no LEED credits for enforcing that the parking spaces are appropriately used, though...

Unless it says Electric cars only, I still park there. Cause 1. Fuck You and 2. Who claims my car isn’t green or fuel efficient? It is compared to my old ‘85 Suburban with a 454 and got 10 mpg
