Posted mainly for the international crowd. Buyer’s Order for my ‘14 Foz purchased used in 2015. “List Price” $16,495 plus $406 in accessories (window tint and a cargo floor mat) plus fees totaled $18,332. I paid $3000 down and financed the $15,332 balance. Of the fees, $229 goes to the dealer and the rest to the state of TX. Nearly all dealers in the US charge these silly dealer fees that are basically a way for them to raise the price after it’s already been agreed to. I’ve seen it as high as $450 at some dealers, so my $229 here wasn’t too bad. Also note that the trade-in allowance is between the list price and the taxes. If you trade a car in to the dealer, you only pay the sales tax on the difference in price between the car being purchased and the trade allowance. The rest of the fees stay the same. So in summary, the agreed to sale price of the car and accessories of $16,900 became $18,332 total with tax and fees.

The dealer I bought my 3 from was adamant about charging me a $700 “document fee.” I was like fuck that noise. I told them I don’t care how you make it work, but I’m not paying that on top of the car price. They still charged me, but it was included in the price we agreed on.

That’s basically what I did with my Outback. We agreed on $24,500. I didn’t care how they made it work. I just looked at that order when I was photographing this one and they did something like $24,050 on the car, $200 for the bike rack, and $250 for their dealer fees.

I hate all the hidden fees, when I was serious about buying the 3 I wanted the out the door price. I’m sure if I had held out a little longer, I would have been able to get some more off the price. However, I wasn’t going to find another one and I didn’t want this one to get away and when they finally made it a reasonable price, I bought it.

Cheers mate. Our bill of sales isn’t that much different really.

There are a couple or so differences but I don’t have Piglet’s paperwork around me to read through.
