We all lust after certain cars. Sometimes it’s a car that you connected with as a kid, or sometimes it’s a car you’ve decided as an adult that you need to own before you die. But sometimes there’s an aspect of owning said car that turns you off.

Kinja'd!!!

The minute the Challenger Hellcat was introduced, I wanted one. Problem is, they attract attention pretty much immediately. I’m much more of a “STOP LOOKING AT ME! GET THE F#$& AWAY FROM ME” kind of guy. I doubt I’d be able to cope with the attention.

What car/truck are you avoiding and for what reason?

Do Hellcat’s really attract that much attention? I would think, at a glance, most people couldn’t tell it apart from a regular Challenger.

Maybe at car shows or something though.

Any Audi, just because of the pure insanity inducing design when it comes to maintaining them. Ok, so I’ve never actually worked on one but I’ve heard horror stories. If they were as reliable as Toyotas I would probably buy one despite the hassle in valves in replacing components.

No, no - I think it’s really completely different. Don’t get me wrong - both are spectacular. The M3 is a full on sports car hiding in a sophisticated sedan body, (which is super cool,) and the STi is technical speed, funny looking, more concerned with function than style. It is actually very interesting the two company’s different take on blown performance vehicles.

Always wanted a Porsche but I’ll never own one because I’d probably wreck it in winter. I could have had a used Cayman for only $1k more than my Audi when I bought it. I had to do a lot of soul searching to get another quattro instead. They were at the same Chicago dealer. Several times before I’ve had the money and skipped them then too. Way back in 70's a 914, at other times a 944 and 928s.

I haven’t spent enough time in sports cars to name names, but there are so many out there that have big issues with visibility.

Late model Camaros, like e36Jeff pointed out, are problematic. I also dislike the old split-window Sting Ray Corvettes. Neat-looking design, but a bad idea from the start. There are also some supercars that from what I’ve read have such poor rear visibility that the driver has to literally hang half-way out of the open door just to see where he’s going.

It’s a deal-breaker for me. It really, really is.

But hey that also means it would be reliable and cheap to maintain. Not to mention the practicality. The Macan really isn’t practical at all thanks to the sloping hatch.

I could also get an air cooled 911 to though, and they’d assume I paid $5k for it.

I hate that my family and friends mostly drive older Toyotas, and anything beyond that is showing off, or irresponsible.

But this woman I worked with had a deadbeat loser vapebro (before vapebros were a thing) of a son, who had that exact car. He came by the office almost every day asking Mommy for something or other, and he just wafted stale cigarette smoke everywhere. I couldn’t handle driving the same car as that idiot. Which is to say, he was the worst example of the stereotypical WRX / STi owner.

Sad, because I would have enjoyed the crap out of that car. I kept my old Honda Accord from college instead, much to the shock of all my coworkers in an endless cycle of new car payments.
