Bad idea?

Is it a bad idea to mount my secondary fuse panel on top of the relay box?

Kinja'd!!!

Advantages: easy access, shortest input and output lines.

Disadvantages: Need to disconnect when I need to reach the relays. Risk of mounting hardware interfering with components inside, or falling off.

The box is safety rated for engine compartment installs.

Alternate location: on the fender behind the relay box. There are preexisting holes, but I lose acces to two circuits and it’s a bit close to that other doohickey.

I could also go to the far side of the engine bay and pass through a different grommet, but that means running my power line across the top of the radiator, which I’m trying to avoid.

What do you suggest, Oppo?

No, not a bad idea. Here is the main CPU ( I think) mounted on the battery cover of my equinox. Just leave enough slack to move it out of the way.

What about here, mounted sideways? Would that work?

Yep, make a bracket that reaches those two existing bolts and holds it flat. You should be able to fab it from angle alum even..

Otherwise I would look at those existing holes along the inside of the hood lips where UT highlighted- on mine they were threaded nut for options that it didn’t come with. Mine are currently holding relays.

Nope, the panel is too thick and won’t clear the hood struts.

I’m looking at making a vertical bracket for between the relay box and the other doohickeys, using the existing bolts. There will be room for the circuit breaker there, too.

Ah, bummer, I was worried about that strut.
